Ok guys, what have you been hearing about these truck motors, good, bad, indifferent. Are the making the 22 MPG's that were claimed, do they have the power, how are they holding up ect?

Any info greatly appreciated because I am thinking about getting back into the market for a new truck. Thanks in advance!!!!!!

I have put 6,800 miles on mine in the last month. Plenty of power even with a trailer @10,000 lbs. Fuel mileage is around 17.5-18 in town, if I drive 65 it will run 19-20 if I run 85 it gets 15.5, and it gets 9 when pulling a trailer at 85 mph.

My fuel mileage is probably off around 1.5 mph if I was empty because of the weight I added with my dog box and hunting stuff. I loaded it into the truck after 500 miles and saw the drop instantly.

My younger brother is a business manager for a Ford dealership.  He showed my older brother and I the stress test video with Mike Rowe (host of Dirty Jobs) and my older brother was hooked (I was too, but I don't believe in going into debt for a vehicle like my older brother does).  He bought one and LOVES it.  He is blown away by the amount of power it has.  And the gas mileage... good as advertised.

Remember that 22 mpg is in the TWO WHEEL DRIVE ONLY versions... the four wheel drive versions are only rated for 21..I know a few guys driving these with the 355 and  373 rear ends and are getting around 17-19 on the highway 70 - 75 mph. and 15-16 in town. Towing power above and beyond the 5.3 chevy and 5.7 hemi.  Still better than any chevy or dodge on the road as of now.

a good friend of mine has an 08' duramax that is extremely modded.  It is fast as hell.  he tangled with a brand new ecoboost the other day and got completely destroyed.  He said "I'd like to tell you it was a close race but sadly it wasn't".

Brother has one and works in the oilfield then go back to his family in Gillette wyo and travels from Kenmare he says he can get 24 at 55 and 20.6 at 65. very good power real nice creature comforts.   He does pull my skidsteer on a tandem trailer and averages 13.7 in a 221 mile round trip.  he just turned 37000 miles on it.  visited with a guy from Williston and he gets 19.4-20.1 on the highway at 65.  He does a lot of off road bowhunting and he says it is better than the 08 GMC he traded. He said the power is better and no squeeks and rattles yet.

It is like everything else there are Ford fans  Dodge fans and some GM product fans.  just ask your self  why are there so many mechanics always in the gm shops  There are people who wouldn't even look at a Ford even though they have spent enough on their chevy to buy it back

I look at it like this.... You can pay $45,000 for that v6 and they are a great pickup and better than chevy and dodge v8 but my brother went down to souix falls SD and bought a brand new ford 1/2 ton exept with the 5.0 and lariet chrome package and all the bells and whistles for $41,000. when he got back he said worth the drive he averaged 80mph and got 20 mpg. Go with the v8.

Or you can pay $33,000 at luther ford in fargo for the new ecoboost v-6.. nicely equipped also !  Completely decked out one for under 40K.... went and checked them out a few days ago. If I was puling more, I would opt for the v-6 as the torque curve lies better at cruising speeds, and add in the 2K extra pounds it can handle towing. Either way, buying a new ford with either a v6 or v8, is a win win.    You get a great pickup, best gas mileage, best towing for a half ton, and kicks the piss out of all the rest in the quarter mile. Oh, did I mention your money isnt going to a company that took a bailout?

Well I bought one in April from Luther in Fargo, a 4x4 supercrew lariat as a college graduation present to myself.  Great experience!  Best price I could find anywhere and they have taken great care of me.  I just rolled over 13k miles and every day I love the truck more.  Towing is great, reminds me of a diesel except its quiet (everyone says how quiet my truck is) and it rides great.

From reading other forums it seems as though I get better than average mileage with mine.  I get 17-19 in town depending on how much I get on it.  On the highway where I do most of my driving I get anywhere from 19-24 on average.  At 80 I get about 19.5ish with no wind, at 70 I routinely pull 22-23.  I keep it at 65-68 on two lanes or highway 2 and at that speed I get 23-25.  My last trip from Dickinson  to Williston I left the cruise on 68 and with a 10-15 mph tailwind I got 27.2 mpg!  My mileage has been getting better with every mile and at 5k miles it really jumped up.

I haven't had any real issues with mine other than a crease in my leather seat and they put a new one on under warranty.  If you are ever in Dickinson and want to check it out let me know!

I love mine, lots of power and the gas mileage is good but not great (alot better than 5.4), I bought the FX4 with the 3.73 rear end
My Mileage ( hard to stay off the gas because i love feeling the power and hearing the boost followed by the wastegate)
55-65= 18-25
65-70=17-20
from there it goes to 80 on interstate= 16-19 depending on wind and i have yet to find a hill while driving empty where it downshifts
Pulling  a 17' sylvan fishing boat with 10mph head wind at 75 i got 12.2-13.8

Buy one you wont regret it

That is 100% crap we have raced a new Silverado 1500 with 5.3 and 3.08 gears against an ecoboost with 3.42 or 3.55s whatever they are and the eco boost won by about one pickup length... I would say a 5.3 with 3.42s would have been neck and neck.. chevy 6.2 would eat the eco boost..

3.42 are dogs, ecoboost with 3.73 4x4 will run mid 14s in quarter, and they also are a hell of alot faster when you know how to do a boosted launch
