I am new to the fly fishing world but i found an area of the river that is just full of big trout and i have been hammering them but with a different method. so i bought a fly rod and a few lures and wanna try them on that thought it would be fun. anyone out there have any advice on fly fishing kinda stuff?  i know nothing about fly fishing except it would be fun to hook one of those big trout in the river on it!
looking for advice on line weight, lures stuff like that anything fly fishing in general that might get me going in the right direction!

What size of fish? What river?  From boat or shore?  What lures have you been throwing with success?

Check out http://www.mvffclub.com/.  Bismarck fly fishing club, website has some great info.  Also, www.dakotaflyfishers.com is website for the Minot club.  Both websites have some good info.  If you're serious, make contact with them.  Each club has members who are world-class fly fisherman and could easily answer your questions.

My two cents. . . you'll need a sizeable rod for those fish and conditions.  At least a 7 weight rod.  Probably get by with a floating fly line, but some type of sinking line more approriate.  Also need a stout leader, probably 0X to 2X (8-12 lb).  A number of different flies might work,  something resembling a minnow.  If I were casting blind, would start with a white zonker.  Hope this helps.

As previously stated, I would go with at least a 7wt.  Personaly I'd throw an 8 to cut the wind a little better.  Fly choices would be clousers, zonkers, decievers, double bunnies, among other minnow imitating streamers.
