Got word today that some people were being told they better get some things out of their houses because there is a good chance of an evac for people who are near the dike. City employees were saying that there is a good chance the dike is going to fail with the water still rising. Thats all I know so far form people that live near the river.  Anyone know any more about the situation?

I dont go around guessing cup sizes either I just know a nice rack when I see one.

all I know is that the water will likely rise to more than 2 feet above the record of 28 feet, and with this wet pattern continuing, mabey higher. fort peck is at the top of its spillway ( i think, because the releases increased to 80,000 once it got to 2251, what is the top of the spillway?) and inflow from the yellowstone is up to 75,000. the water could even be water from sakawea, but that is just a asumption. things are not looking good out there.

If that dike fails, then there is no hope for any other dike built to withstand this event.

I say to hell with that pot o' gold.

Peck was at 2252 last time I checked which is 2 feet above the actual free flow of the spillway (how I understand it).  Gates are acting as a dam now (again as I understand it).  Holy water.

My dad was out that way working and said Hwy 85 not far from going under.  Crazy times.  And some good rain on way or potentially on way this weekend.

If today doesn't bring it first!

I can remember the sick feeling in my stomach i got when i watched the flooding in GF unfold on tv back in 97 or whenever it was. I had a friend that was one of the first houses gone when the first dike broke giving me play by play also. This year with all of this flooding all over the state and bordering state is giving me the same feeling. Then to top it off the amount of farm land underwater at DL and all over the state compounds the pukiness. (yeah i know i spelled a word wrong that doesnt exist) Keep your head up and stay on it is all any of us can do. Those loosing their homes and way of making a living are in our prayers and we say one for them every Sunday in church.
Y'all call me a paranoid gun-nut now, but we all know who you're going to be running to for help when the zombies show up.

Wouldn't the water back up the Little Muddy or is that diked also?  Is the dike really the train tracks or is there another dike?

From the looks of it the Little Muddy is already very backed up.

The muddy is diked.  However it is very high up on the dike.  The leak in the dike along the river is about two to three miles west of town.  Just below the housing development se of the four mile bar.  the corp has been trying to repair it for two weeks or more.  If that goes it will flood everything from the livestock auction east.  I would say up to about the amtrak depot.  then on the east side all the stuff below the court house to the east.
