I caught 2 nice bass out there last year, along the southeast bank in about 20 fow. This year the one time I went with one of my FB's we caught 6 trout and nothing else. Didn't even mark or see any other fish on the Vex or the graph. We were in the extreme southeast corner of the lake in 10-13 fow. See my previous report. The spot has it all. Sharp break, weed edge, and transition to sand. If I went out again, my GPS shows a deep hole (45 feet) straight out aways from the southeast access. Good breaks around it too. That is where I'm going to try next time I go out there. It's such a clear lake that I've heard the only time to catch the crappies is from sunrise to 9 A.M. I bet one could catch them after dark too, due to the clarity of the lake. Most really clear lakes I've ever fished for crappie were best during low light or darkness. I've also heard that if you do find the crappies, they're pretty respectable fish. So. Now that I've horked up where I'd try it from previous experience, you have to post your results if you go. I used to call this lake "Fishless Creek" until the last time I went and got those trout. I can't imagine the crappies being anywhere else other than some deep water suspended, because I've looked pretty much everywhere else. Good luck, and let me know how you do if you go after crappies.

The lake used to be full of perch, but they killed it off and started over a few years back. I have not caught or even heard of anyone catching a perch since then. Definitely not a perch lake. I guess there are crappies in there, but I have not been able to find them personally. I know a few people who have though. Some lakes you can catch the bass through the ice. Fish Creek is not one of them. It is basically a trout fishery during the winter - maybe a few crappies if you are lucky.

We used the 2nd boat launch from the entrance. We drove an older suburban on the lake and seemed to do fine. We fished to the right of the ramp just around the first point. Ice was approximatley 16 to 18 inches. We plan on going tommorrow, might see you out there.

Thanks for the info on the lake access. Fishing was slow on Monday. Got a couple but they bit really light. No hard slamming the bait like usual. All fish came off of crawlers. They nipped the wax worms a bit but never would commit to them.

One bad drift right before the park area. Had to hit it pretty fast to make it through and got a little (maybe a lot) sideways coming out the other end, but made it through with the little car. Snow plow came through while we were on the ice and cleared it off so we didn't have to deal with it on the way out. Making the long icy hill with 2 wheel drive was interesting though.
