Yep saw that.  Pretty funny how Reagan allowed 200,000 to be imported back in the 80's.  Good old Ronny.

I am not only upset at the lack of a reasonable explanation why these guns are any different than any other guns I am also appalled at the fact no one is even willing to answer questions.  Any one who owns a gun that excepts a magazine is aware that any gun that excepts a magazine can except one as big as you can get to function.  The reason they give is absurd!

This is a direct attack on seni-auto guns.  These liberals in Washington will not give up trying to take away our guns.  One piece of the pie at a time.

This will seal the democrats fate in November. Clinton directly admitted that the Brady bill turned the senate over to the republicans in 94. I tell ya, those libertards have some excellent strategists working for them. Absolutely amazing. The NRA will come out full force this election, like they did in 94. Amen.

I think the liberals are trying to get all they can
while they can, and hope like hell it slides
through without anyone seeing it.  Come this
fall, there is going to be hell to pay and the
liberals know it and they cannot stop it.  It's
to late.  Between the Tea Party and the good
old fashion Republicans, there will be an ass
kicking and everyone in Washington knows it.
Byron Dorgan is getting out while he still can
with a little pride, if he had waited, he would
have been voted out big time.

This is a response I got from the NRA ILA

Thank you for contacting NRA-ILA.

The Obama administration has blocked an application by U.S. firearms importers to bring home over 100,000 M1 Garand rifles and M1 carbines.  Although at first the State Department granted its approval for these guns to be returned to the U.S. from Korea, that permission was later revoked.

These firearms are totally legal to import.  Replica M1 carbines are currently made in the U.S., and replica Garands have been made in the U.S. recently as well.  But for many years, the State Department has defied the law (including a congressional appropriations amendment backed by the NRA) by using various excuses to prevent importation of these guns.

The NRA has worked with importers for more than 10 years to ensure that these historic firearms can be sold to U.S. shooters through commercial channels, and will continue to support their lawful importation.

Again, thank you for your inquiry and please do not hesitate to share any of your thoughts or concerns in the future.

Sincerely,
Kyle C

Why not just be a real patriot and buy American-made guns? American manufacturers will welcome your business.

Don't you have the right to buy the gun of your choice as long as its not a fully auto, but with the right permits you can own one of these also.  Are you sure that these M1 grands are not us made?

(from the artical)........The Obama administration approved the sale of the American-made rifles last year. But it reversed course and banned the sale in March – a decision that went largely unnoticed at the time but that is now sparking opposition from gun rights advocates.

  Kaptain,
Pay attention.! These are AMERICAN MADE GUNS.   They were sent over to S. Korea during the Korean war for use to fight the war.  We gave them to S.K. after the war for their defense.  They are outdated.  For any others who don't want to take the time to read the article here's the first paragraph....
"The South Korean government, in an effort to raise money for its military, wants to sell nearly a million antique M1 rifles that were used by U.S. soldiers in the Korean War to gun collectors in America."
These are also the same type of rifle we used in WWII.  Probably a surplus from that.
They want to offer them for sale to the American public.

Kaplain the key words for you to understand  are    "The Obama administration approved the sale of the American-made rifles last year. But it reversed course and banned the sale in March "   The Obama administation lied again.

Yes, Americans bought those rifles to fight the war in Korea.  Then we "gave" them to the Koreans.  Now they're going to "sell" them back to us?  Is that like sending money overseas?  Or am I missing something?  But yes it would be nice to be able to buy these.  Korea should just box them up and send them back, we'll pay the shipping.  Then our government could sell them to us, thereby recouping some of the intial cost to procure them in the first place.  Duhhhhhhhhhhhhhh  The more armed Americans we have, the safer our country.

I'm glad they did this, and here's why:

The Takers have already shown that they are dilusional by asserting that guns create violence. They have further asserted their dillusions by thinking that making 300,000 guns unavailable to the public will even put a dent in the number of guns in the US.

300,000 guns is about .3 percent of all guns in the US. All they are doing is making it harder on themselves. For all of the furror that this will create in the public arena, is it really worth it for the socialists just so they can keep the number of guns from increasing by a fraction of a percent? Especially when gun sales are at an all time high? FOr each gun they keep out of our hands, it means 5 voters that will turn against them (probably an exagerated number but you get the point).

Just keep diggin your graves, dumbasses. See you in November!

Most of the stuff I get from the NRA is pretty lame but I thought this was hilarious:
