Fill your muzzleloader tag with your bow?

During Muzzleloader season "I have a tag" can I fill it with archery equipment? I read that I can fill my rifle tag with my bow, so does the same apply for my muzzleloader tag?

Thanks

I went to the GF website and the weapons listed under the "Deer Gun Season" has this line.
"All legal bow equipment as listed earlier in the deer bow season section shall be legal during the deer gun season."

The paragraph for Muzzleloader section has NO such comment.
The legal weapons for muzzleloaders are listed as:
Muzzleloader Season - Muzzleloading long guns of .45 caliber or larger, and handguns .50 caliber or larger, loaded through the muzzle, with flint or percussion ignition, firing black powder or black powder substitutes are legal.

I would say no to a bow. After all, the season is done specifically for muzzleloader weapons. Conversely the gun season also allows muzzleloaders also. You can even put a scope on your front loader in the regular gun season but not the muzzleloader one, which indicates to me that the muzzleloader season is a restricted weapon season and you are only allowed what is listed.

goatboy,

You can use a bow to fill extra doe tags during any open deer season. I do not believe you can use a bow to fill your muzzleloader tag, and certainly not during bow season.

The deer gun license can be filled using any legal weapon, which for that season is any legal centerfire rifle, legal handgun, legal muzzleloader, or legal archery equipment as long as you are hunting within the season dates and area listed for that license.

During the muzzleloader season you are limited to using legal muzzleloaders. No centerfire rifles, no handguns, no archery equipment.

The "extra antlerless" tags can be filled during any open season, using the appropriate legal weapon. You don't need a license for that specific season, only an antlerless tag. You do have to however stay within the unit designated on the antlerless tag. So you don't need to have a muzzleloader license to hunt during the muzzleloader season as long as you have one of the extra antlerless tags and stay within the boundries of the unit listed on the concurrent tag.

But you can't use archery equipment to fill your muzzleloader tag, and you can't fill your muzzleloader tag during the regular gun season even if you are using a muzzleloader. The muzzleloader season doesn't start until the regular season is over.

Doe tags can be used in any season, but buck tags must be used in the specific season.

It wouldn't hurt any of us to read the regulations again.

I think a phone call or email to the game and fish is needed on this one. A bow is a lesser weapon and from what I read on the regulations, a bow can be used to fill a muzzleoader tag but I could be wrong.

My question is why would you want to use archery equipment to fill a muzzleloader tag?

I mean it's hard enough to draw a muzzy tag. If you don't want to go muzzy hunting, don't apply and take someone else's opportunity to muzzy hunt away from them.
