Nd English setters? Esetters.com is all u need to know. Bloodlines are 2nd to none. They learned from one of the best there was. Price is reasonable. And they owners are great to work with. I talked w them a lot about a year and a half ago after I had to put down the first dog I ever got and was considering making the switch from a flusher to a pointer. Eventually chose to stuck w what I know best. But, they did a darn good job of almost converting me over to the dark side. ;)

What are you looking for in your English Setter? Big runner for NSTRA or field trials, and sharptail hunting? Or are you looking for a medium to close range gun dog?
Close working Gun dogs take a look at the lewellin line of English Setters.

As far as the above referenced website I would have some concerns.
Maybe I'm wrong but I can't find any health gurantees on the website. I did find a blurb how they won't knowingly ship an unhealthy pup, but I couldn't find anything regarding hips or other genetic issues that can occur.
I also am somewhat leary  of the volume of pups produced there. Most reputable breeders have very limited amounts of litters/yr and that's not the case there.
I hadn't been to the website in a few yrs until today and the pups available right now is the fewest I have ever seen. I know there's been times in the past when they had 20+  pups from several litters on the ground at the same time. That's extremely high for a hunting dog kennel.
As far as bloodlines being second to none that is very much arguable.

I didn't spen a long time on their website so if the is a health gurantee please let me know.
I'm sure someone will rip me because of the above comments but it is just my opinion and nothing more.

i certainly am not going to argue about what kind of an operation they run.  i don't have a dog in this fight and am not a pointer guy.  so, maybe i am simply wrong.  i guess i'd just check them out myself and see what you think.  i do know that blackie was one heck of a dog.  i'd heard about him years before i ever contacted them.  in college, i dated a girl whose grandpa used to own morningsides kennel out of minot before he passed away.  from what i can tell, there are at least two of his dogs in their bloodlines.  and they always had good things to say about this place, their methods and most certainly the dog they have running through their bloodlines now... havelock blacksmith.

I am looking for a setter that can hunt pheasants and sharptails here in North Dakota.  I doubt that I will field trial the pup.  I checked out Havelock Setters which seem to produce quality dogs.  Obviously the bonus is that they are not to far down the road from me.  AS my wife reminds the pup won't just be a hunting dog, but also an in home companion, so I am also looking for setters that have a good reputation in the home as well, which it seems that the Havelock setter do.  Any thoughts?

Espringer:  I am making the jump to the dark side from Spiringers to A Setter.  My little girl has been a great hunting dog, but at 12 she is beginning to loose a step.  I have always been fascinated with pointing dogs, and thought  English Setters had look compatible ot my Springer.

Blackie was a successful field trial dog without a doubt. I won't argue that.
Thats where the arguable statement comes in. There are other kennels with great blood lines as well.
In the Pointing Dog world, to achieve what Blackie did, ou have to be a BIG RUNNER.
Again it comes down to what Birdyman wants in his dog.

I have personally seen a few nice dogs come from the above named kennel as well.
I guess I'm more concerned as to how a responsible breeder can put out such a huge volume of puppies, and maintain the integrity of the breed.
It seems more of a business focus than a betterment of the breed focus that most gun dog kennels take.

Is Wayne Tuttle still raising setters in Minot? He was the guy that trained and worked with Boyd and his dogs at Morningside. I had one of their dogs and she was great.

I know they're in MN, but I'm a fan of Setter Hills in Willmar, MN - http://www.setterhills.com/
