The Moridge Chamber Tourism Committee is busy planning for another great ice fishing tournament planned for January 8th, 2011.  I wanted to let all the FBO crew know that you need to mark your calendars for October 4th...registration day.  We are going to allow 450 teams this year, last year we had 400 teams registered in less than a week!  This year we will have over $130,000 cash and prizes.  Also new this year we have already purchased a new Honda Big Red, a Yamaha Rhino, and two Ice Lodge ice shacks.  Not to mention many more prizes to be announce later.  We will do our best to keep everyone informed on FBO, but we do update www.mobridgeoutdoors.com as it gets closer, and we also have a facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Mobridge-Ice-Fishing-Tournament/335259395432

How many of you have fished the tourney, or plan on fishing it this year?  Any comments (good or bad) are greatly appreciated.

Here is the poster for the 10th Annual Mobridge Ice Fishing Tournament.  As far as a team tournament format, this is the largest fishing tournament in the Midwest.

Don't forget October 4th, 2010 for registration opening on www.mobridgoutdoors.com or www.mobridge.org

I should stop saying I'm going to fish and do it.  But darn it, something always gets in the way.

Tim, quit making excuses and do it! You and your partner can hang with Simms and myself. We'll get you started in the right direction for finding fish.

Any other questions in regards to the tournament?  It's a great time, no doubt about that, and I am pretty sure there quite of few FBO'ers there last year.  Maybe we could put a table together so the FBO members could sit together.  I would need a headcount so at setup I could try to save some spots.  What do you think of that?

This is my favorite ice fishing tournament. I've had this on my calender since last years!

Like simmsj said if you are not fishing this you are missing out.

Only bad thing is that this usually falls on the same weekend as the Belfield sportsmans club banquet, but I just buy my ticket and go down to Mobridge.

This tourney is the best run, most organized that I have seen.

Yes, you should get a table reserved for FBO members. That  would be cool.

We are planning on making it three in a row, What else is there to do that time of year? Besides shovel snow, that is. Make your reservations early, some places are already full if you need to stay over on Friday night. Im all in, and maybe this year Ill actually catch a fish or two. Not expecting to win a prize scince we went home with a four-wheeler last year. I could use a new ice-auger though. Looking forward to it and having a good time either way.

We'll have to see if we can get something from the crew at TON to place on the table.  They are a gold sponsor for our tournament and provide a great service to our event.

I have an idea for a prize I feel is going to be very popular in the ice fishing scene.

4-WHEELER TRACKS!!

Last year it was impossible to get anywhere on OAHE on the ND side,( and most of the SD) with out a snowmobil,  and I doubt you could pull much gear with one.    The two ATV's they have on the poster would have been usesless as well.  Now I know not every year is as bad as the last couple but they are great for mud too.

I think they would make a great prize.  The manufacturer's should be trying to promote them, and what better venue than this tournament.  I've heard they have caught on big time in Minn. and I'll bet over the next few years we start seeing more and more 4-wheelers with tracks while ice fishing here in the Dakotas.   I think the manufacturers would be very interested in promoting them at this event.  Lots of guys here with money to spend on bigboy toys.

Got a room at the Wrangler. ABSOLUTELY CANNOT WAIT! Fished every iced weekend from '88-92. Who needed the ZOO? Do they still bite at the singing bridge?

One step at a time...Be careful.

I am all for a FBO table. If it isn't possible; a Cheeseburger at Rick's is a definate.

TON will definitely do something.  I'll talk to the Mobridge Chamber and we'll make it something cool.  I'm holding myself to it now. Too good of an event.  Way to go Motown.

Quick question on the tourney...can you drill your own holes and go where ever or are all the holes predrilled and assigned?
It is folly to assume my awesome lies dormant.

It is NOT  a pre-drill tourney.  There are boundries, and you can fish anywhere inside of them.  Getting there and drilling them is haldf the fun.

Thanks for the clarification Rowdie.

If any other anglers are wondering about the rules here are some basics:

No Predrilled holes...you find the spot and fish within the 20 mile boundry
Fishing hours are from 8am to check in time of 7pm
Electronics and shacks (permanent or flip) are allowed
4 wheelers, side by sides, and vehicles (if there is good ice) are ok
You can only use standardized hook and line system with artificial bait or live bait
No spearing or snagging

We will have the rest of the rules completed shortly, and will get a link up for you.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.  Thanks for the support!
