Fishing is hott right now. Limits of walleye and northern on night crawlers and leeches. Eyes in the 2-3 lb range and northerns 4-5 regularly.. Good luck.

Just looking for some info. Can anybody tell me how the fishing has been this spring on Dry Lake. Never been there before and was thinking about taking the kids camping down there and doing some walleye fishing. Just want to know if it's worth the trip or not. What colors work in that lake and what do the walleyes like to feed on? Any info would be helpful. Thanks

Fished in deep water for three hours. Didn't see a fish on locator. Needed a snomobile to get around.
Update: Last summer only four cormorant nests instead of 175 nests. Cutting the dead trees in the water that they need to nest in, worked very well. We had alot less cormorants on the lake too. Let us all declare war on CORMORANT TREES! (Dead trees standing in the lake with big ugly nests in them) These SKY CARP are Federally protected. The trees are protected When a cormorant is using it for a nest. That tree is just another tree in the winter. Get permmition from the land owner and cut them down! NOTE: YOU COULD DIE IF THE TREE FALLS ON YOU, so be carful. We must do something to control their numbers short of going to jail!? Please copy this report and pass it on to all fishermen. Doing nothing while the cormorants eat the last of our fish is not an option! Your General in the WAR ON CORMORANT TREES. Fishing is hit - miss, mostly miss. Watch out for the break coming out from the north west shore. It has two parallel breaks about 100 yrds apart, heading east and then south. Also has some open water along the breaks as of a week ago. Ice is 14 inches, driving trucks on it.

The trees that I cut down were on my land and along the shore ( 150 feet ) east of the camper (a mile north of the landing on the west side of the lake). There are some large trees that the ice pushed down that were 150 yards east of the camper. These trees are the dangerous ones. The trees that I cut are floating along the shore. The dead heads are from the ice pushing down trees and draging them around the lake. This happens every year. The reason I cut my trees down is we had 175 cormorant nests in them last year. Each evening 400+ cormorants roosted there also. They hurt the lake by feeding on young game fish and crapping in the water. This causes the little worms you find in the gut of some of the walleyes and northerns from Dry Lake. I have never guided any one on Dry Lake! So if your not catching any fish, it's your fault, not mine! The lake has come up 5' 6" this year ( according to some nails in a remaining tree). The only trees I cut were ones that could hold a cormorant nest, the ice pushed down alot of them this year. Good fishing and good luck.

Thanks for the heads up! What part of the lake are these trees at? I am guessing if I see any trees along the shore I will need to be careful in that area. I am also surprise to hear you say there is a guide out of Lehr?? Didn't know I would be fishing Dry Lake with the "Guides" this weekend.
