swab it with some tomato sauce, juice, ketchup, etc.  Let it sit on there for a bit, then clean it up/

Without a doubt, coming out into nature is one of the neatest things there is to do, but you also have to be careful. That’s why I always try to pack the heat — try to pack a gun. Just a little bit — pack some heat. Now this isn’t too — this isn’t much of a big boy, I don’t want to kill the animal, but I do want to warn it, and say “hey, I think you’re pretty neat, but I respect your distance.” There’s bears out here, there’s mountain cougars, and biting goats.

You may want to also try lemon juice.

Soak it in lemon juice or vinegar.  They are both a natural mild acid, and will remove the smell, just like tomato juice.  Vinegar will be the strongest though.

I used the Peroxide mixture as mentioned above and it worked great on the dog.  The collar was a different story.  It turned yellow and I tried everything, even called tri-tronics and asked they for advice, to no avail.  It was like it was molded into the plastic of the receiver.  I ended up buying a new collar and receiver.  Kind of expensive but I couldn't get the stink out of the receiver.

Closys brand mouthwash does wonders right after it happens while you're still out in the field, put it in a spray bottle and spray them down real good and then take them to water to kinda rinse it off.  My brothers VC  seeks them out, at least 4 times a year, and I must say the stuff works like magic.

I've tried the remington spray and that's not bad. The best product that I've found is called skunk off. It comes in 2 forms. There is the regular spray and there is also skunk off shampoo that is safe to use on your dogs eyes (just in case that ever happens).

Try fishermans soap worked great for me last year. The only problem is I dont know who sells it any more. I got mine from fox island outfitters step dad.  Had some skunk smell on my boots that I could get off using all the above methods and the fishermans soap works the best.

We emptied the last of the soap drums here awhile back. Wade might have some at Dakota Tackle and the rest we kept for personnal use. Doubt campcook will have any more made. Sure is great stuff though!
The kill is the satisfying, indeed essential, conclusion to a successful hunt. But, I take no pleasure in the act itself. One does not hunt in order to kill, but kills in order to have hunted. Then why do I hunt? I hunt for the same reason my well-fed cat hunts...because I must, because it is in the blood, because I am the decendent of a thousand generations of hunters. I hunt because I am a hunter.- Finn Aagard

Couldn't you just let it sit outside for a couple days?  The stink doesn't last that long when they're mashed on the road.

opening grouse my gsp  got into a skunk. I was told to use 1 liter hydogen peroxide, 1-2 tablespoons baking soda, and 1 table spoon dawn dish soap. you can add more soap too.  get em wet, lather that mixture on let sit for ten min if you can hold em that long. then rinse it off. I used that same on my dog collar but isn't working to good. I am just leaving in outside to air out. The guy i got the recipe from has a dog that loves to get sprayed and he swears by it.

Keep it out of their eyes, Spud was licking it off his snout.

Tecnu... it is made to get Poison Ivy Oil off anything, but because Skunks spray an oil it works amazing at removing that smell from your dog or your equipment. Hope that helps.

This mixture works very well for the dog, for the collar, well your screwed unless you buy a new one. My dog got blasted last year and his collar still smells when it gets wet. Doesnt matter though, he still points birds and i get to shoot them. The smell adds character.

we keep a couple bottles of skunk off in the truck.  is a pretty darn good product.  especially if you aren't in any position to be mixing up peroxide and baking soda.

Its like a cover scent when out in the bush

If we're not supposed to eat animals, how come they're made out of meat?
