I have got your solution!  Go to www.lutherkennel.com and click on the supplies tab.  There you will see the WeatherSeal Pet Door used for this very purpose you are talking about.  Or give me a call @ 701-347-4176 and let me know if this would work for you.

Thanks Rian for the lead!

Same door I just put in my insulated/heated garage, though obviously I have no idea how well it works as it's only been in a few weeks.

I have used every dog door, made, and have found only one door that has survived the test of time. And that door is Gun Dog Doors. I believe these are made in Sabin MN.
by a fellow named Karl ??
We have 8 of these doors installed right know, some of them going on 5-6 years old,
and still working like the day we installed them.
You will not be disappointed with these doors.

I have one of the Gun dog doors from Sabin. Very well built! Went through two other doors before buying one. First dog would chew em up not this one!!! The only downsize is they are noisy when closing other than that been very happy!

For you owners of the Gun Dog Door; how well does it seal for cold weather in a heated garage?

I will be putting one in shortly and am torn between these two doors.

Gun dog Kennel hands down.  Great door.  I have them in to houses. They always seal and weather tight.  My Kennel is built facing North so the wind pounds it.  I have never had any snow in the garage because of it.  Buy it direct and follow the instruction.  My complaint is the noise.  My bed room is right above the kennel and in the middle of the night you will here is slam shut.

I see that a bunch of guys mentioned the same dog door that I posted.  They are loud from the slamming shut, so if it is by a bedroom, etc you may consider one of the magnetic flaps, although they will not seal nearly as nice.

Just an FYI.  I had a dog door in my attached garage years ago and had just a fenced yard without any locks.   Had some kids come in through the dog door and stole some rings that my wife had left on the table.  Just a reminder to protect agains that.  I should have kept the door locked between the garage and house.

I have used the WeatherSeal Pet Door for one year now, have not had any problems and it does what it is supposed to do.  My dog is tough on things and the door is holding up very well.

The noise is definitely an issue for us, that's mostly why I'm looking for a new dog door; and to keep out the cold.

Any suggestions for one that isn't quite so noisy and still keeps the elements out of the garage?
The kill is the satisfying, indeed essential, conclusion to a successful hunt. But, I take no pleasure in the act itself. One does not hunt in order to kill, but kills in order to have hunted. Then why do I hunt? I hunt for the same reason my well-fed cat hunts...because I must, because it is in the blood, because I am the decendent of a thousand generations of hunters. Give me your address and I will send you a brochure on The WeatherSeal Pet Door.  Noise, well, the insulating foam seal is the noise damper to this door.  You hear a slight thump is all and if you set the spring tension lightly you probably won't hear it at all.

Or write an email to me at lutherkennel@wildblue.net.

Gundoghousedoor is the only way to go.  I know someone that have been using one of these for 12 years with his golden retriever.  The best made door on the market.

Still looking at both of these doors, and I like the price of the Gun Dog door, but I like the fact that the Weather Seal door is quiet.

Sure you don't want to drop your price on the WeatherSeal Duane???

Fox Island Outfitter,  I would love to drop the price of these doors!!  I know the other door is less expensive, but unfortunately the material in this door sets the price and you know the old saying.

I wonder if Humans had a choice of walking through a door hinged at the side or a door that hinged at the top -- which one would they choose to walk through.  Wanna put some money on how many pick the side hinged one?

Learning curve is faster and it won't pull out some of the show hairs as one woman put it with Show Golden Retrievers.
