Would not suprise me if Hoeven would do something like that. It's clear the states interest has been bringing $$$$$ into the state the last ten years and  natural resources conservation has been on the backburner.

Until there is an oil spill or until they tap out, I do not think the production will stop anytime soon. And if people do not think it will affect wildlife populations and habitat in the long run without some serious mitigation think again. Just look at sage grouse and antelope populations. Yes we have had brutal winters lately but i feel  the fragmented habitat is also doing  harm to them.

The federal government does not want us to access the national grasslands, and the state would rather see development in North dakota instead of protecting what has made our state so great. It's a touchy subject and will be interesting to see if the G&F department will respond to that document.

A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed

There are hundreds of millions of gun owners in this country, and not one of them will have an accident today. The only misuse of guns comes in environments where there are drugs, alcohol, bad parents, and undisciplined children. Period. - Unlce Ted

This doesn't surprise me. It seems instant monetary gratification seems to be the acceptable avenue and the future consequences are shuffled off into the closet by a lot of people. With both coal and oil production the effects of mercury, hydrogen sulfide gas, heavy metals, salt water spills, destroyed infrastructure and wildlife habitat destruction are not sufficiently addressed. IT seems that often times these companies are given the "farm". It's difficult to fight this on a personal basis. Been there....the oil companies response was ," We plan on picking up all the marbles, even the chipped ones"

Agreed it probably would not have made a difference in the election, however, the report does shed some bright light on a very negative aspect of the oil and gas boom in the west.
Montana ( http://www.mfwpfoundation.org/learn-about-us/montana-fish-wildlife-conservation-trust/) and Wyoming (http://wwnrt.state.wy.us/) both have a Natural Resource Trust to mitigate some of the adverse effects that always come with this type of activity. Seems to me ND should have the same as we are dealing with a lot of the same issues.

I read the entire report, IMO it should be finalized, submitted and implemented. In light of this report (  http://www.northdecoder.com/Latest/north-dakota-stripper-alert.html) things in the O/G industry will no doubt accelerate out west
