Devils Lake (Overview) - Sunday, August 23, 2009

Got to Devils fri eve about 730, had excellent success casting cranks and picked up a 2 man limit in short order.  Fish between 6 inches and 20 inches  (kept 14-20 inch limit.  Had a Pike smoke a 6 inch Eye on my crank right at the boat, ripped the Eye right off the crank for an easy meal.

Sat not as fun.  Started pulling cranks on the Golden highway.  Got a double, 1 of the fish pulled my Scheels Shortie out of the holder never to be seen again.  Pitched cranks on a north windblown shoreline and hammered the Whitties, a few HUGE.  Went to Grahams and tried bobbers around some weeds with no luck.  When trying to get back up on plane to move I spun the hub on my prop, thanks to the guys in the Yarcraft that donated me a hub kit.  When trying to get closer to shore to fix the boat I hit an underwater log, tossing myself out of the boat on some flooded timber and shattering the shaft to my Terrova, then on the way to our next spot the kicker tie bar lost a nut, allowing the kicker to flop around.  Trip into town for some supplied and repairs and back on the water for the eve bite; Obviously minus the use of the bowmount.  Anchored up on 6 FOW, fan casted and had a couple bobbers out.  Missed quite a few on bobbers, caught a couple on cranks.

Overall a mix of awesome and very disappointing for the 1+ days on the water.
