Devils Lake (Overview) - Monday, May 30, 2011

Report Details
Saturday the 28th, I fished at Devil’s Lake for, what has become our annual trip with guide Mark Bry. We started our day off at about 9:00 AM and instantly we were catching White Bass. I don’t know if we went more than two or three casts without having a decent-sized Bass at the end. We moved to another spot, got on to some small Northern and found ourselves a nice, healthy 20+ inch Walleye. We fished that area for a bit with great success. We moved to another area before the first batch of rain hit us and, almost instantly, Mark hooked into a 27½ inch chunky Walleye. After releasing him, the Walleye bite was on. It seemed like we were catching a Walleye every couple minutes. All of them were healthy and fat. With our limit in the live well, the rain dumped on us so we went to find cover. After the rain let up, we went back out and continued to slam the fish until about 4:00 PM. When all was said and done, we had caught between 75 and 100 fish: 25ish being walleye (keeping our 10, all 16-20 inchers), about a dozen of Northern and a bunch of White Bass (with the biggest pushing 4 pounds).

I fished with Mark Bry last year and didn’t think I could ever have a better day fishing. Now, I’m thinking that about this year’s fishing. All fish were caught with jigs and cranks. If anyone is looking to have an amazing day of fishing and learn from one of the best with great success, contact Mark Bry at http://www.brysguideservice.com. Not only is Mark a very knowledgeable, great fisherman, he’s a great teacher, offers tons of information, is very personable, and makes you feel as if you’re fishing on your own boat. Make sure to follow Mark’s posts on FishingBuddies; I guarantee the information he’s offering is truthful and may help you catch some fish.

On Sunday, my partner and I headed out on my own boat to test what we learned from Mark Bry in finding fish and how to catch them. Instantly, we were in the fish again. In the end, we took home another 6 Walleye, caught a ton of Bass, some Northern, and released a few other Walleye. Without the help of Mark Bry, we probably wouldn’t have been able to find fish because we’re a couple of rookies that seemed damn good for those two days. Thanks Mark! I can’t wait to hit the ice with you and next year’s Memorial weekend trip.
