Mitchell's Guide Service/ Woodland Resort Fishing Report

This past week by far has provided us with the nicest weather of the summer.  Temperatures have been in the high 70s and low 80s with plenty of sunshine and light winds.   The fishing has been outstanding as well.  It is the best of both worlds, we are doing really well trolling crankbaits in the morning and working the weed lines with bottom bouncers with nightcrawlers in the afternoons.  Some of the nicest walleyes of the season are being caught using both of these methods.   The slip bobber bite has slowed up quite a bit.   Although, we have not done much of it lately, mostly due to the lack of leeches available now days.

The northern pike fishing has also picked up.  Again, we are not doing anything special to target them, we seem to catch plenty as we walleye fish.  These northerns vary in size from 3 pounds to 14 pounds. 

The hunting season is soon upon us and all we can think about is fishing.  It is that good on Devils Lake right now.  With all this beautiful weather we have had, the fish are still in their summer patterns and we are making them pay the price! 

If you are looking for a late summer fishing trip and want to experience some pretty incredible fishing on a lake that has hardly any boat traffic and fishing pressure, now is the perfect time.  We have plenty of room and would love the opportunity to take your party fishing.
