Devils Lake Fishing Reports
Devils Lake (Overview) - Saturday, August 20, 2011
Was out on Wednesday (17th) and fished near the Dairy Farm on east bay. Caught a nice drift that took us in depths from 12-25 FOW. Caught a lot of smaller walleyes and a couple white bass. Couple of the walleyes were big enough to take home for dinner. Maybe could have caught more keepers but ran out of bait. Both leaches and crawlers worked with bottom bouncers and spinners.

Hello everyone, I havent been to DL yet this summer and am planning a trip in the next week or so. I am planning to leave my boat at home and do some shore fishing on the vast lake. Are there any good areas to fish from shore that are away from the highways yet still accessible? Any information would be appreciated! |

Devils Lake (Overview) - Sunday, August 14, 2011
Saturday,
I pulled #5 Hornets and jointed shads behind lead. We didn't go much more than 100 yards between bites. We worked between 20-30ft of water. Red cranks worked best. We had 100+ walleyes that day. Kept our limit of 15-17inchers. We also had two perch on the lead. Sunday, I worked deep rocks. 40ft seemed to be the ticket. We went through half a pound of leaches and brought our limit of 15-17 inchers home. We didn't have any monsters between the two days, but sorted through some good eaters and let a number of little ones go back so they get big. Fish are every where right now! |

Devils Lake (Overview) - Wednesday, August 10, 2011
2 of us went out of the East Bay boat ramp and went out to 14 ft of water just east of Acorn Ridge. (the piece of land that the boat ramp is on). We worked north along hwy 20 with the electric pulling spinners with a combination of bottom bouncers and lindy type weights. We had a combination of colors and worked leeches and crawlers with equal success. We worked a zig zag pattern in and out from 14 ft out to 20 ft. We ran just about to the dike then turned around and went back south. By the time we hit the area where Acorn Ridge meets the road on the north side of that jut of land we had our limit. Mostly small walleyes, but we kept anything 13 inches and up. Better to clean a bunch of small ones than no big ones. I think we did a little better in the south half of the run. We had several doubles and one triple. One of my best evenings fishing for a long time even though they weren't large, they were active.

Fished Saturday afternoon using the Round Lake Ramp. It was my son (13) and I in the boat and we pulled bottom bouncers with spinners tipped with leaches. We fished along Old #281 north of Minnewaukan, the old Minnewaukan sewage lagoon area, the West end of the Golden Highway, and Monkeys Ridge. |

Devils Lake (Overview) - Sunday, July 31, 2011
I went out today after the stoms went thru this morning. I caught well over 50 waleyes and 1 Northern over 32 inches. This was my first time since July 4th weekend so I did some depth searching. I fished 10-25 ft. I caught alot of little ones from 10-12 feet and from 17-25 feet from 12-17 feet was slower but the fish were bigger I caught a 22, 26, and a 26.5 inch waleye in that range I also have two 14 inchers to fill my limit. I was trollong bottom bouncers with a leach on one and a nightcrawler on the other they were both hot. I caught all the big fish on the nightcrawler and the northern. the Water Temp was 75 when I left. The wind swiched directions and picked up when I got off. What a pain in the but to put the boat on by your self when the waves push you around.

Been meaning to post this but was out this past Sunday (24th) and caught quite a few walleyes. Only problem was they were all about 12 inches or less. Fished near Doc Hagens in 12-20 ft, with the majority of fish coming in 12ft. Also tried Patience Point for a bit, and got similar results. A lot of northerns caught too and kept one decent one to have something to eat. Still a great day to be on the water.

Six Mile Bay - Thursday, July 28, 2011
We started on the east side of six mile south of the sunken farm and caught a few on leeches slip bobbering, but the wind picked up a bit so we moved out to the south and drifted spinners. Action was best in about 12 ft of water. Caught quite a few but no hawgs. |

East Bay - Sunday, July 24, 2011
Hey all,
Posting a report as I promised from last weeks fishing trip. My wife and I spent 4 days at Eastbay campground and baoted a total of 88 fish. About 3/4 of them were walleyes, the other 1/4 northerns with a few white bass. Only kept eyes over 14" and came home with 13 of them. Lots of little up and comers were caught trolling spinners and lindy rigs. The larger fish were caught on cranks in less than 10 fow. Biggest eye caught was 23.5" and we had 4 of those. Also caught a 37 inch northern which was a blast. Took some pics and watched her slide down into the depths. Spent most time trolling spinners/bottom bouncers and throwin cranks. Did catch a few keepers on leech and slip bobbers the last evening as well. Seemed like all techniques catch fish...we just struggled to find consistent big fish. Great trip nonetheless. I highly recomend the cabins at eastbay campground. 4 nights for $260.00...air conditioniong, sat tv, shower, bathroom, firepit, grills! Great deal. |
