Photo Description:
This Buck was shot on Saturday morning.  My dad watched this buck bed down in a CRP field we were still hunting.  I was on the south end of the CRP he was on the North.  He called me on my cell to tell me to come quickly, stay low and bring the spotting scope.  I got to my dad and we were about 200 yds SW of this Buck.  I put the spotting scope up and confirmed he was a definite shooter.  Now for the problem.  This buck was bedded in the NE corner of the field about 100 yards off the fence lines to both the N and E of him.  We didn't have permission to hunt on either side and the CRP was 3 feet high and all you could see was the horns so there was no shot.  The wind was blowing almost straight east and we decided to get my dad in position about 100 yards S of the deer and I would low crawl the fence line and get N of the deer and push him back towards my dad.  The CRP was perfect height to mask me and I crawled around to the NE of the side of the deer.  I was able to crawl to within about 15 yards of him before he got up and ran broadside for my dad.  He was bedded with a doe.  I think had I not stood up he would have let me crawl up and pet him.  Funny thing is I just got done telling my brother about 2 weeks prior that spot and stalk on a whitetail would be extremely difficult.  Funny how life proves you wrong sometimes.  Anyways I love it when a plan comes together and this is the end result.

If you can grow a sweet mustache like that you deserve a nice deer(I am serious).  Heckuva deer.

The mustache is a shadow from the grass or the trees, but he can grow a mean one when he tries.  And I like to put the old man on a good one as well.  I would have taken this deer in a heartbeat, but dad spotted him so he got the first crack and he got him.  I had 2 good 4x4's come by me while I was glassing and also saw another 5x5 just a lil smaller that this one in the same spot, but couldn't get a shot.  I will be out there again this weekend trying to take care of business.

Very nice and great story. Good luck this weekend. You going to have Kacey Taxidermy mount it?

I would have Kacey Taxidermy mount it if it was my deer.  My dad still hasn't decided if he is going to mount it.  Only wall space he has in his house to hang dead things already has his elk from last year hanging in it.  Might have to tell him to mount it and let me hang it for a while until he finds a place!

I just got off the phone with my pops and he said he took the deer to Ed's Taxidermy in Minot yesterday.
