Looking at some new loads for my .243 winchester for coyotes. The gun is a Remington 700 ADL. I believe it's the standard Rem 9 1/8 twist. It's 15 years old, so I am not too sure of the twist. I am looking at the sierra blitzkings in 70 grain, or nosler Ballistic tips. I shoot (at) coyotes between 100 and 400 yards with the 80 grain SPBT's right now, and it's tearing them up something fierce. What are your thoughts?

85gn TSX.  You'll always get an entrance and an exit but the exit is rarely larger than a golf ball, exception being an exit out the paunch.  A paunch exit is ugly no matter what you use though.

I'm using hornady 87gr both hpbt and v-max, with the hpbt's they will sometimes run a bit before going down but don't think I've ever had one go 75 yards.  The v-max are great if you can stay away form the edges.  I will say that I don't remember shooting one inside of 75 yards with a v-max  The v-max provides instant death, coyotes shot at 400 yards have dropped without a twitch and without an exit hole. :)

Best way to avoid an exit completely is to use 55 or 58's going fast, else use something that sticks together like the TSX Clay recommended.

i have used the 60 grain federal premium varmint load for the 243 and would not recommend it.  It is a hollow point which even makes it worse.  If you hit the shoulder bone you are probably going to lose the dog with this load.  I would vote on Horseagers choice.

i've got 2 boxes of 55 grain winchester supreme ballistic silvertips for my .243 that i bought last spring on sale and was excited to use for fox and yote killin.  but, i can't get them to group worth a darn and am pretty sure it isn't the loose nut behind the scope cause my other cheap factory loads in the 80-105 grain range group nicely.  on the plus side, the only yote i've shot at dropped in its tracks quartering away on a dead run at about 125 yards and there wasn't an exit wound.  i suspect the lack of an exit wound isn't going to be common place tho w/ them especially at closer ranges.  but, i ain't no ballistic expert.  they are speedy little rounds... i think they come out of the barrel at around 3900-4000 ft/s if i remember right.  if i could get them to group worth a darn, a zero at about 150 would make them very shooter friendly out to 300.  wish i knew what my problem was w/ the grouping tho.  probably need to give her a good cleaning or else those are just too light for what i think is a 22" 1:10 twist barrel.  any suggestions?

I use Nosler 55 grain ballistic tips. I use H-380 powder, You can find the load in Nosler's #4 reloading guide or send me a message and I will tell you what I use. It is a compressed load so be carefull working up to it.
