went out last week saturday ice was only 8inches and the water stinks so i think its getting winter killed and we caught no fish

Went out with Quincy05 to see if we could ice any trout since we had decent luck with them last spring/summer. Game and fish reports stocking only rainbow trout and channel catfish, and we had caught plenty of each of them this summer, but nothing else. To our surprise, the first time there on the ice we pulled out several small northerns! Didn't even mark anything else , no sign of trout or catfish. There was a lot of snow on the ice, and in turn, it was quite slushy underneath the snow, but still 4" of ice or so everywhere we popped a hole. I was using a tiny flu-flu with waxies at varying depths, which worked quite well there this summer, but no luck that day. Quincy05 used a small lindy flyer with a minnow running shallow which the northerns that were not supposed to exist there seemed to enjoy...

I went out at 4 PM. I was using wax worms and worms both for bait they were biting mostly on the nightcrawlers By 6 I had 6 fish (released 4 of them but all were nice size fish) Everytime I go to this lake I allway get at least 3 fish. I get the nightcrawlers at the (south Walmart)
