I'm looking at purchasing a corn stove for the house. Just wanted to get some thoughts on them. I will be heating a 2200SQ foot house. What BTU should i get 30 or 40 thousand and what size hopper. Access to corn is good thats why i thought of this instead to wood. Thanks for the imput.

I have had one in a 3000 ft home for 5 years and love it. Its a St Croix model I believe. Those stoves throw out an enormous amout of heat with an absurdly small amount of ash. Mine btu is 35 K.  I have a small 5 gal hopper built into mine that will run 14 hours.  Nice when the power goes out too, as the fan only draws 2 amps when I hook it up to my boat battery.

I also have a St. Croix, it holds ten gallons of corn and burns about that a day.  I'm using it as a supplemental source of heat, since i installed it my furnace only kicks in every 45-60 minutes.  Be careful though you must burn fairly clean corn of you will get a build up of fluffy ash. I'm not even sure of the btu's, it a St. Croix and the model is Auburn

I have had one for about 3 yrs.  It is a St. Croix Auburn and I love it.   My sister had one as well, and she recently moved into a different house and had a baby.  She did not want to mess with hauling corn from the farm, so she didn't  put it in when she moved.  If you are interested email me.  I think she would sell it.

I love my wood pellet as well, its tough to move the heat in my situatioin. However, if you can get one of these units in the basement and let the heat rise thru vent openings etc.. it will heat a lot of square footage for a decent price. Wood pellets have come down again this year with more competition. Premium pellets under $4 a bag now.
