Ive finally decided to upgrade my binos after years of getting by with low end optics. I've decided on vortex vipers but I'm stuck on what size to get. 8x42, 10x42, or 10x50. I will be using them for deer and coyote hunting. For what its worth, when I'm deer hunting, I'm usually glassing longer distances (300-500 yds). I'm not interested in the typical "well if you spend $x extra you can get this brand" responses. I'm just looking for size recommendations. I have always used 10x50 in the past (and probably lean that way since that's what I'm used to) but after reading some reviews have heard some say 10x50 can be a little heavier and "shakier". In this line, it's only 4 oz heavier than the 10x42. Is smaller better due to weight & steadiness? Or is the weight negligible and the added exit pupil worth it? Will I notice a difference between sizes in this optics line? I wear a Bino harness so not sure weight would be noticeable. Which size do you prefer and why?
