catfish and water temp or time to start

I know the water around here is still a little to cold to be getting any catfish action so im wondering when do they start biting? what water temp? or what month is best to start in also I am wondering where you all would suggest going? Im not expecting any monsters just really like to fish them and havent been able to get out the last few years. I would like areas around the bisman area if there are any

thanks for any help

ps need to be able to walk to the locations or drive to it im boatless

Its still a little slow, look for the shallow flats with little to no current, 1 to 2' of water. Raw shrimp has been working the best. This is on the yellowstone in Sidney MT.

Water temps this morning were high 40s.  right now I would be looking shallow and out of current.  As the temps move into the 50s the fish will move out to the faster currents and start the spring feed which will just get better as the temps keep going up.

Last weekend I was fishing a deep hole and the depth finder was showing Big Hooks on the screen so I fished it hard and pulled up a 8 lb cat. there biting just a matter of finding them.
