Wow! What a week on the water, with limits coming easy using jigs and minnows. Ice came off earlier this week and with lack of runoff this spring the water is clear and the walleyes are aggressive. The fish seem to be right where we left before the ice set in for the winter. This is the best early spring fishing that I can remember and with the nice forecast we have I hope you can get out and enjoy it. I will post a few photos in the photo gallery of a few of the nicer fish caught this week. Good Luck!

Anyone know if there letting out more water? Went out tonight and quit after an hour. Couldn't keep my lines down even with extra weight on them. The lures would just rise up to the bottom of the ice. Anyone still having any luck?

Does anyone know if you can fish the tail race by boat? if the garrison dam tailrace boat ramp is open to fish?

FYI: The river through Bismarck is mostly open. There was what looked like a a thin sheet of ice by the boat ramp below the interstate ramp, but you may be able to put a boat in possibly. For those that have been icefishing on the slack water areas, the river has dropped what looks like 4-6 feet and the ice looks really unsafe.

Fished near the confluence the 17th and 18th ice was pretty poor real close to shore but is 14 inches a little further out. We fished in 10 to 18 fow and ended the day with close to 30 Sauger caught with 8 keepers ranging from 12 to 20 inches, alot of small ones but the action was great, tailhooked minnow on a small treble worked the best. On the 18th we returned to the same spot and caught 9 sauger in half the day, with three keepers from 14 to 20 inches all in all an excellent weekend on the river.

Fished the mouse east of westhope today and drilled a hundread hole all over the place. never read a fish or had a bite. the minnows would die soon after they were in the whole. no good up north!! |

Anyone interested in going fishing on the Mouse tomorrow evening in Minot? Dont really have an idea where to go was thinking around the pool and zoo area. If anyone wants to go hit me up on here and if you got a good little spot to hit I am open to ideas. |

Fished on a backwater area south of the Marina (not sure what it is called). Ice conditions close to shore were NOT ideal. Mushy ice, only about 4-6 inches thick. Once you got past that, there is about a foot of good solid ice. Caught 2 nice pike, missed at least two more. Also caught a decent walleye and small perch. Dead sticks with minnows yeided nothing. All fish/bites on jigging a swedish pimple with a minnow head.

went out to east side of states and ice fished the caugher dam and got 3 walleye and 2 northern, me and my friend went after school today and had some good luck
