Missouri River (ND Lower Portion) - Monday, July 27, 2009
Went to desert today and gave the fish all we could.
Pulled cranks, jigs, lindies and only a couple of bites. tried Bernies banks and up to mouth of Applecreek and nothing. Not like a couple of weeks ago down at Fortrice nad you were of the water with 10 fish before 10:00am. Good fish'n to all. Might have to go futher North by Cross Ranch, heard the bite was on up that way. |

I think it's safe to say that bait fishing right now is as good as it gets. We did harvest more small carp, goldeye, and sucker with the throw net than traditional hook and line. Every tributary we went to produced something tasty for the cats. A couple more days of that, and a couple more days hunting leopards and we should be good for the next couple tourneys.

Anyone been out to the drayton dam this week? I see the water rose a couple of feet since last weekend and is on its way back down. Wondering if i would be able to fish it on Sat. Thanks for the help.

Pre-fishing last night, I wasn't expecting to get "humbled", but instead knock them dead, and then talk a bunch of smack today about the upcoming Tourney. I really don't fish the South Ramp very much, and the only time I do is for Wednesday night cat league. So I'm trying to "learn it", and it just isn't sinking in. We went all the way to the Thompson Bridge (didn't realize that equals 1/4 tank of gas). Bites, bites, bites, tap tap tap-er-oo! Nothing would commit, and looking at the size of the bite marks these were all small male cats, Drum, etc. I tried everything in my arsenal. Oh well, next time we won't go that far I guess. |

went out twice in the last week up and down the river from Bismarck. found the walleyes biting on nightcrawlers with drifting spinner rigs, averaged about 2 fish/hour for the boat both times, sporadic... you know the drill: catch 2 quick in one hole, then fish another hour or two and find a couple more. Keep moving, we had to work for them.

Well I went out south of drayton yesterday for 4 hours we went all the way to the park river and nothing we used gold eye. I went up and looked at the dam an you can launch a boat there now you just have to drive around the soft spots. if you go out there look out for the sunken pickup truck someware around there. It was seen going over the dam but they havent found it yet. Weird huh

Well, we did ok yesterday at the Oslo Tourney. We couldn't keep the small males off our lines for the first hour. We went through 4 goldeye in 45 minutes! All fish were males on steroids, 2-12 pounders that felt like 25 pounders. Biggest fish was caught by my partner, 21 pounds. We caught a few 19's, let them go. Found out later that we also would've taken 2nd place, AND 3rd place if my digital scale wasn't 2 pounds off, (2 pounds light). Oh well, what do you expect when conditions are tough with the hot weather, and low water.

Yes the trash can be depressing...I just don't get it?
But you did the right thing, and lead by example, and cleaned up the area. We need to show as Sportsman/Sportswoman we will not except this slob fisherman thinking. If they come to fish...Kewl..If they come to litter...leave. |

Red River (North) - Thursday, July 16, 2009
Fished the north dam yesterday and could not believe the amount of garbage. It was everywhere. I did some cleaning but since the dumpster is not there anymore I could only clean what I had room for in my garbage. I was PISSED!!! I noticed today the river went up and washed most of the garbage away. Sorry Grand Forks, you shouldn't have to deal with our @#$%^^^$# pigs.

Just wanted to let all of you know that there is a catfish tournament in Oslo this sunday starting at 7 am. hope to see you all there
