Went out on Saturday. Fished East side of Highway...walked out from south side. Fished in 11-13 feet of water. Fishing was slow...caught small northerns, a couple perch and a crappie believe it or not. Used minnows on jigs and plain hooks. Beautiful day to be out...wish the fishing was better....saw people fishing on the west side of the highway. Anybody have a report for what was caught over there?

Fished the east side of the highway yesterday, walking on from the north side. There are some areas of thin ice along the shore about 5 ft wide, I'd guess the ice was an inch thick in places along the shore, but plenty of other places to get on the bay away from the thin stuff. There is about 6-8 inches of good clear ice away from the shore. The east bay is frozen over, however the ice in the middle portion, from the 1804 bridge down the center of the bay going east, does still have a darker color to it. There were a few other groups out, talked to some younger kids who had caught a couple of northerns. We caught 3 small walleyes, one keeper and a few northerns. Not a bad first outing.

Fished the Missou south of Mandan Tuesday afternoon til dark and fishing was good.  Went about 15 miles south of mandan.  Wihtin minutes of dropping the jig down nice 18 incher.  ANd it was non stop from there on, alot of small eyes, a few fair sized slimers, and some massive perch.  When all was said and done took home our 10 eyes, biggest 22 a 20 the rest in the 17-18 range.  Also kept 2 perch both at 14 inches and FAT. We did have to pick through 40-50 small fish but it was still fun.  Most fish came in the 20-30 ft of water, anything less seemed to produce slimers.  jigs of any color with minnow was ticket . It was a perfect day.  November fishing is the best.  SHoot at this rate I may have the boat out in december, we'll see.  good luck all

Souris River (Mouse River) - Sunday, November 13, 2011

Lots of small walleye through out the whole river. I caught my limit in under an hour, and only had to use 3 worms! The fish did not want to let go of the hook either when taking it out, they must be super hungry. biggest was 18in, and smallest was 14in.
