Anyone out there tried this new fuel additive made in Minnesota? I have been hearing from friends that they are experiencing an instant 10-15% increase in fuel economy. They have a web site www.ca40g.com I first heard about it when Ed Schulz was interviewing the developers of this. I am going to order some of it, sounds very interesting and promising.

I heard it was pretty much bogus.  I was always told growing up that if it sounds to good to be true, it usually is.  From everything I've heard with this stuff that is the case.  I'd save your money and just slow down a bit.

I love the way our economy works.  We have worthless gas now a days because of the EPA.  Just like the global warming issue and Al Gore pushing his carbon thing a ma bobs this guy gets to make a fortune off of the poor quality gas we fill our vehicles with.  Oh well I guess, that's the way she goes.

My experience has been fairly good.
I recomend it if your putting on alot of highway miles.
My parents use it and in an 06' Subaru Outback it increases gas mileage about 5 miles/gal on average.
I use it in a 99' Sub mostly in town I do keep a fuelbook log on www.northdakotagasprices.com(whic hI think everyone should do)
I've noticed 1-2 miles/gal in town haven't done much highway driving since I started using it. Engine seems to run smoother and seems to have a little more getup n' go when merging on intersate off ramps around Fargo.

What does this stuff cost? If it is cheap enough, it sure might be worth trying out. Sure sounds like "snake oil" to me, but hey - I've probably wasted more money on dumber ideas than this, so it might be worth trying it out at least.

I guess anything that has Ed Schultz so up in a roar, it must be all bad.

I'm kind of with Snow, use some injector cleaner or show me the science of how it works. Until then I am going to be patient.

I have started to give this stuff a try the last week or so. I am definitly seeing increased mileage (99 3/4 ton GMC), just not sure how much better yet since ive been mixing city/highway and towing miles with this first tank. This is taken directly from their website. I am far from a chemist, but this does a pretty good job of explaining how it works:

One of the major components of CA-40 is calcium sulfonate. Calcium sulfonate is used in the best greases, and is the second best metallic lubricant on the planet. The problem with calcium has been keeping it in suspension. Until now.

Our patented CA-40 fuel treatment keeps calcium in suspension through a unique blending process. When CA-40 is added to fuel the calcium bonds to hydrocarbons within the fuel causing a more efficient burn of the fuel. What this means to consumers is increased fuel efficiency, increased lubricity, and a decrease in harmful emissions.

Combustion Enhancement
CA40 is different from other additives in that it is not a solvent. In addition to being a superior lubricant it is actually a combustion enhancer. CA40 has an ability to suspend in and tie itself to the hydrocarbons in fuels.

Usually only about half of the hydrocarbons in fuel are burned in an internal combustion engine. Combustion enhancement is attained through further oxidation of the un-burnt hydrocarbons in the fuel. There are three things that are needed in combustion: fuel, oxygen and ignition. CA40 suspends within the hydrocarbons and further allows oxygen and fuel to be held together (fuel and oxygen). The third component of ignition is accomplished due to the thermo-electric and Piezo-electric properties of the calcium in CA40. When combustion occurs in the engine the heat and pressure causes the electrons in the calcium to accelerate. This acceleration provides the ignition (spark) in the proximity of the hydrocarbons resulting in further oxidation (burning) of the hydrocarbons. The end result is a longer stronger push during the power stroke.

CA-40 does not take fuel out of specifications
- CA-40 does not change Octane or Cetane, but uses it more efficiently, giving a longer stronger push on the piston.
- Independent testing at Sabolt Labs indicated that CA-40 did not take gasoline out of specifications.

How many tank fulls do you get for $35? Sounds like the cost of the product may be more than the fuel you save?

Scam!
It contains canola oil, an organic compound. The organic compound simply raises the btu content of the fuel. Dump a little canola oil from your grocery store into the tank and you will see the same results. Along with the improved performance you will also get deposit build on your injector tips and valves from the organic compound reacting with the heat of combustion. If your vehicle is near needing an oil change, have an exhaust gas reading done and check your mileage. Have your oil changed and again have your ex gas analyzed and check your mileage, you will notice improvements after the oil change. We don

it contains about 35oz and you add about 1oz per 15-20gallons, so it's about $1 per tank.

ca40g.com/ is the website CMH Industries Inc.
It's $30 a quart if you order online.

If you want try it if you like it keep buying it.

If you think it's a scam then don't buy it!

With today's gas prices every little bit helps and if this gives you 3-5 miles per gal. then I'm sold I don't need to know how it works just that it does.

I'll put it to the test this weekend.
I actually missed adding it to my last tank. SO for the most part it should be out of the system.

I'll be going to Sak(Indian Hills) this weekend should put about 600 highway miles on this will be a good test for the additive.
