bug repellent

Whats a good bug spray to use while scouting and hunting that doesnt smell so strong that the deer are spooked before you can even get a glimps of them? I have a can of "no more stinking bugs" but not sure if it was keeping bugs And deer away or if was just a slow day last fall.

Last year I used some spray by robinson, it was in a green can at scheels for 7.99. I thought it smelled just like regular bug spray but I did use it in the field and still saw deer.

Indy,
There's a product available, and I can't remember the name, but it works on the same principle as the mosquito magnet but only alot smaller. It uses butane and creates a odorless barrier. If you call scheels in Fargo, Al in the archery shop will know the product that I'm talking about. They don't have it in the store as of yet but they are working at getting it in. Mark Drury uses this while bow hunting and he said it works great.

As long as you are down wind of your game, they should not be able to smell the mosquito spray. Scent just doesn't travel well against the wind. On the other hand, on calmer days it certainly can make a difference. Personally, I just wear loose fitting clothes and a head net. That keeps the bugs from biting, although the constant swarming around your head net can drive you a little nuts.

The bug repellent bands I have seen are junk. They might prevet ticks from crawling up past the band, but they do nothing for mosqitos and they are the real problem when you are bow hunting.
