Fished Brewer 1/1/06. Set up by 330 in about 16-17 FOW. Caught a perch and 2 small largemouth right away. Marking fish throughout the evening. Put aquaview with infrared down and to my surprise, CRAPPIES! They were down there, but just not biting. I was using different jigs, halis, even a plain hook with gulp and powerbait. Those always produce better for me than waxies or spikes so I don't even bother buying them anymore. Who knows, maybe waxies/spikes are the ticket!?! Anyone have any ideas on how to get these buggers to bite?

Well, I just fished the cassleton res. yesterday and missed a big northern, snapped the line, didn't get a thing after that, i usually land alot of fish there, so they told me Brewer is the place now, i guess they are hammering everything up there and i have been going there for years ain't seen a thing! I guess i will head back there, but if anyone knows anything lately i would appreciate the info.

Fished the Brew 12/17. Set up by 330. Put the camera down and saw a huge school of blue gills mixed with some small largemouth. Stayed until 600 and only iced 3 small largemouth. The fish were there the whole time. Could not entice them to bite. Used small glow jigs with gulp. Talked with guy who said there was shrimp in there. I have never seen any. Anyone else fishing or now if there are shrimp in Brewer? Ice was about 10-11". This lake has always been hit or miss for me.

Brewer was the place! They certainly need to work on weeding it out, i have went there as a kid and had lots of success with fishing, now the cormerant and weeds have taken that away. Ice fishing there the last few years and it's been nothing. Only time i catch anything there is late season by the dam, alot of bass hang out there.

Brewer Lake - Sunday, December 4, 2005
Hit Brewer on Sat. The way it looked, my brother and I were the first to venture out. We started on the the north shore straight down from the camping area ended drilling 25 holes across the lake toward the silt bank depths from 4-26 ft. didn't mark a fish, so we didn't even bust out the rods. Ice was a good 7" all the way across, but I know it's not that thick by the damn. USE EXTREME CAUTION towards the east end of the lake. It's going to take alot more time and effort to find the fish than we put in on Sat., but if anyone has any luck. Let us know.

Brewer Lake - Monday, August 15, 2005
Went to Brewer on Saturday the 13th. Slow in the mid-afternoon but caught some sunnies/crappie/perch/walleye/largemouth bass around suppertime. sunnies and crappie were about 10inches the others were not big enough to keep. Probably could have pulled in a few with size if we were in a boat. The bite wasn't fast but we were catching a fish every five minutes or so until almost sunset.

Brewer Lake - Thursday, August 11, 2005
I went fish in last Sunday, the lake is occupied by the weeds. The park should spend some dallors to clear the lake. That will bring people to there. This is good place for camping with kids over years, but is not now. This is one of two fishing lakes in Cass County. Why the county does not take it? The fish is still there. Small mouth bass is quite good. But the smell of lake is too bad.
Wish someone, park or county, help clear the lake. |

Brewer fishing report
I've been fishing brewer for the past 4 or 5 years now, the past two years have been slow though. This year has been picking up for me, i mostly fish the lake for big bass. I have herd people talking about the lake is dead, not true. Yes, it's hard to catch a good number of fish, but there in there. If you fish early morning and a few hours before sunset with top water you shouldn't have any problem getting some good action. |
