Brewer Lake Fishing Reports
Brewer Lake - Sunday, August 1, 2010
Got to say, you guys have hit it on the head and well described the fiasco up there. Too bad too. I'm behind you, 100%, but the conversation is getting old on a fishing forum.
I can sum up our recent stop on the lake. A few decent blue gill and even found a few walleye and crappie, but haven't had good fishing like the old days there for the past five years or so. The lake isn't at all what it was for the couple previous decades before this down turn. |

$2200 a month to live at the lake?? wow, i will take that deal. This cat is a moron and needs to be removed. The guy is a joke and the brew can be better run with someone who has a head on their shoulders. I won't go back with that joker runnin the show. And it's to bad because it was nice to go there once and awhile.

I am amazed at how many have had similar or worse experience than I have had with the husband and wife duo they have at Brewer lake now. |

I hope you guys can get those two outs there. A friend and I fished this lake earlier this year and those two pissed us off to the point that we decided we were never going back. If you get someone else in there I'd be all for going back.

How many people would you need on a petition to get the clown out of there? I would like to also know if he is enforcing the no outside wood issue w/o the approval of the board? |

interesting info on the firewood issue. upon reading all of the minutes for the past two years of cass county meeting regarding brewer lake, i found that the outside firewood ban had been discussed on aug. 09, but the minutes stated that they would decide on a later date. no mention of a firewood ban has been discussed since then. im also real pissed to learn that the moron running the place makes $2200.00 a month!!!!! and in the minutes he said that he wanted that upped to $3500.00 because his health insurance wont cover injuries at the campground. BS!!!!!!! health care covers you regardless of where you are. anyone else interested on getting a petition going to get this clown out of there? ill gladly run the place for $2200.00 a month.

This place sounds like pure comedy. Some drunk and a hag that harasses the campers and won't leave you alone. Not to mention the $8 a bundle firewood. Sounds like a shakedown! Good luck folks! I'll be sure to avoid this place.

I know of at least 3 families that personally have quit going to Brewer campground. I hope more and more quit. I agree it would be nice to find out what could be done about it and who to contact.

I have fished and camped at brewer for the last 10 years and it use to be one of the greatest little getaways in Cass County. I hope that everyone decides to quit going there next year and that the couple who thinks they own the lake can sit all alone and wonder why nobody is showing up. I recommend camping on the south side and screw them and their $8.oo wood. If a person can't bring their own wood to sit around the fire with ones family and friends and enjoy a cheap night of camping and good times they can go to hell. I know a few farmers that use to drive through and sell wood and were only charging 5 bucks for a decent size bundle. And who is keeping track of the bundles of wood? I would bet that they are pocketing a large amount of the 8 bucks they are charging. I don't know who one has to write a letter to in order to complain but I hope that everyone finds a new getaway next year and the couple can sit out there all by their lonesome.

This nice little spot was ruined once and awhile by some crappy campers but they didn't need to bring in this bum and his wife to ruin it even worse. This is a friggen joke!! Brewer isn't worth 20 bucks a night, they could bring those prices down. They chased everyone away! And i had to buy that 8 bucks a bundle, ridiculous.......

Yeah, they just started not letting a guy even bring some of his own 2 x 4's etc with no nails in to burn.8 bucks for a small little bundle of wood that burns in 15 minutes is ridiculous! They claim that don't want disease spread by bringing in your own firewood but that doesnt explain why they dont allow clean kiln dried scrap wood. Its all about the money. I figure they are pocketing some of it themselves and they let their friends stay for free that come to visit them. They always come around and want to drink your beer as well.

Brewer Lake - Sunday, July 11, 2010
My wife and I camped at Brewer i mid June, and the experience was terrible. It was a slow weekend so there were only a few other campers out there. So every ten minutes the guy running the place would stop and b.s. with us. The first couple of times we thought he was really friendly, but then it got to be very annoying. We would see him coming and go hide in the camper till he would go bother some other poor s.o.b.. In one of the numerous times he bothered us, he told me the scoop about brewer. Cass county almost closed it down completely a couple of years ago because the place was trashed by a few bad apples. So the annoying guy and his bitchy wife were hired to clean up the place. It is still free to camp on the south side of the lake but you are not allowed to use the new showers or toilets on the north side unless you pay. It is $20/night for full hookups, $15/night for electricity only, $5/night for primitive. The prices are very competitive, the only problem is the spots for campers are way to small. I have a 27' with a slide out. When centered in my spot, my slide hung over into the next spot as did the awning on the other side. Now the real jaw dropper. Every time the old guy came around, he would try to get me to buy a seasonal spot(cass county wants seasonal campers). So I finally took the bait and asked how much. He told me $600, and I thought that would be very reasonable to leave my camper there from may 1 to october1. Just as I told it was a fair price and that I would think about it, his wife piped in and said "No, not $600/season, but $600/month."! Thats $3000/season for a campground that has shitty fishing, small spots, and a host couple that doesnt leave anybody alone! My boss pays $2500 for a year round spot with a boat lift(that he does not have to take out of the water in the fall or put in the spring) on a really nice minnesota lake. Needless to say we packed up when our stay was over and will never go back. One more thing....when we were just about to leave....the old man seen us just about to drive away and blocked us in with his pickup so he could b.s. with me for another 20 minutes. |
