No that actually doesn't help your credibility to say that you work for the G&F Dept.  Simply because anyone who works for the G&F Dept. that would make an official statement of lake winter-kill would do it through department channels.  They would also put thier real name and position behind it instead of hiding behind a screen name.  There have been hundreds of threads begging for input from the G&F and I have yet to see your screen name show up on one of them.  Now all of a sudden you are a G&F employee?  That makes me more suspicious than ever.

If this makes you feel any better, I work with the ND Game and Fish (Fisheries Dept.) and had some other co-workers go out and discover it has been Winter Killed.

There isn't anymore snow cover on the ice of Braddock Damn than there has been in the past so that's not a reason.  Braddock Damn usually stays pretty clear if there's any wind associated with the snowfall as there really isn't anything protecting it as far as trees are concerned.

StevePike:  You might be correct, but I suspect not.  It seems that lately whenever anyone asks about any body of water, the very first response is that it winter-killed.  There was even a topic not that long ago that made it sound like every body of water in ND suffered a winter-kill and there were no fish left.  I think it is a little early to be making these predictions.  And if by chance there is this huge and widespread winter-kill affecting the state, why have we not heard anything at from the G&F regarding this?  I take these reports of winter-kill with a grain of salt unless it comes from a much more reliable source.

It's never winter killed before, why now?  I've caught a lot of fish through the ice on Braddock Damn in years past.
