I prefer the old Bushnell unit with arbors that go into the bore.  I've never tried one of the laser units.

Any of them wll get you on the paper. The laser is nice once you are sighted in just compare the laser with the target and write it down. then change the dials alot and then return the setting back to the laser reference and see how close it is. It is amazing it works everytime.

I am going to agree with Horsager on this one. I've used the lasers, and you either have to spend a lot of money for one that has interchangeable parts to fit all calibers, or buy a lot of them. I use the Bushnell Boresighter with the arbors. Gets me damn close every time and for 90 bucks for a brand new one, pretty easy on the wallet. They last forever as well, my great uncle has one that is older than I am and works just as good as the day it came home from the store, used to boresight literally thousands of rifles.

I have a Cabelas boresighter. Awesome tool. This one fits all cals. This is our second one, the first one, my dad forgot to remover it from the barrel before he shot. Amazing how much damage this can do!

I employ the remove the bolt and look down the tube method.  It's free and has always got me on paper at 100 yds.  I don't scope anything but bolt actions so it has always worked for me.

I need a chrony before I buy a boresiter. Ive had good luck getting on paper by pulling the bolt, look down the tube and point it right at the target, then adjust scope to match. Pretty rare to not hit somewhere on the target at 100 yards with this method.
