Black Tiger Bay - Sunday, June 14, 2009

Report Details
My party and I went to Devils Lake today with little results. We launched in Black Tiger and tried Skadsems, Haybale, and Black Tiger Bays and left with 2 Walleye - 14 inch and 18 inch (both caught in Skadsems). I also caught a White Bass in Skadsems, but didnt take a measurement since we dont keep them. All our catches of the day were caught trolling right off the weed beds in Skadsems maintaining a speed right around 1 mph. We tried to stay right around 10 foot depth and were showing alot of fish on sonar, they just werent biting. I used all darker colored spinners: Blue with a blue strip, and black with a red strip, both of which I tried leech, minnow, and crawler on. The 14 inch Walleye and White Bass were both on leech. If you try Devils within the next week, you're going to want to stay in depth anywhere from 6 to 12 feet. Anything deeper is too cold, and because there hasn't been much sun to make the algae grow, any shallower than 6 feet is very clear making your line visible to fish.

Overall I believe that the fishing at Devils is picking up, we just need more days like today to warm the water up a little to get the fish to move into deeper water. If the weather cooperates, fishing at Devils Lake should increase drastically within the next couple of weeks and hopefully people can begin filling their limits
