14", that's a beast!  You might want to find a piece of driftwood to attach one of those to your wall.

Also I dont have all that many to compare it too but I'm sure that is the biggest crappie I have ever caught, is that what you fellas would qualify as a slab yet?

One of these was 14" and the other was 13.5, but I am pretty sure the Pan Man caught them both.  If I caught a few of these in a special situation, I would do a group mount.  I heart crappies.

A 15" is an immediate wallhanger with no arguments whatsoever. Anything over 14" is rare, especially whiteys. Those are much more prevelent down south. Not so much up here.

I miss crappie fishing.  Did a lot growing up.  Nothing like big slabs.

If we're not supposed to eat animals, how come they're made out of meat?

Well shiite Ahab.  The boy got a 17 and a 16 incher on two casts in the 'race back in Oct.  He found out about the Whopper Patch a couple days ago and is bummed.  Now I"M really bummed.  Both fish are frozen in Mt. Dew as we speak.

14"ers and up are usually lipped outof the hole, ole timers call'em "paper mouths" its easy to tear the jig outof their lips, paper thin mouth skin.

A mess of 14"ers like ahab has can fill a bucket quick,10-12 14"to16" black crappies will fill a 5gal bucket in no time.

I found the 10"-12"ers are better eating than the larger thick ones that tend to be mushy and muddy tasting.
