Big Tillers

Can someone give me the lowdown on big tillers (18-21 feet)? I have always been a windshield boat guy but like the idea of a tiller. I realize you are going to get some spray in every boat, but are they miserable when you have to go 5-10 miles in big wind and waves? Thanks in advance for the feedback.

Yes, unless you really know how to cut the waves, and keep it on top as much as possible.

I've been running a Warrior 2090 for the last 9 years and wouldn't trade it for any windshield boat.  I have a 175 with hydraulic steering and wouldn't be without it.  I've made 10+ mile runs and will do so again.  It doesn't matter what kind of boat you have if you have cut across the waves at the wrong angle, you're going to get wet.

Have you ever been in the back of a tiller and had to travel 20 or 40 miles in big wind, you will be drowned and worn out after a big lake run.  I feel that if you think you need unlimited unhindered room you might grow to like one.  I personally think a tall tall windshield is a necessity and an air ride seat should be standard equipment on all boats.
