I have the Garmin 78c, decent GPS but I am not liking the buttons being above the screen.  Seems backwards after 6 years of using a Lowrance, also seems easier.

I got the Oregon 450T in Aug and the touch screen is pretty beat up already, I don't really like it at all.

I also have an oregon 450T.  Have had it for about 1.5 years.  I really like it.

I have always had the clear plastic screen protectors on the screen so when it gets beat up or scratched I just replace it.  You can get them on ebay for a few bucks a piece.

The touch screen is real nice for editing or naming way points because you just have to touch each letter.  It also makes the UI a lot faster than a button only unit.

I have a Ram windshield mount and 12v cig plug in for auto use.  Then you can just unplug it out and run it on energizer lithium 91's for field use.

Garmin Oregon 45T here, but all the Garmins are good and there are some newer ones, too.  Easy to use, and accepts the NDtrax or a road map which has the same database as the Nuvii.  Works well in the boat and plane and bicycle, too.
I wouldn't get a Nuvii - too big to carry and I don't think their batteries are very ideal for tramping out in the wilderness.
Stay away from Lowrance

Garmin first and foremost.  I have the 62s as didn't want the pure touch screen.  Love the unit and nothing bad to say.  I did check out the new Montana the other day as a buddy bought it.  They have made the screens brighter than I remember the Oregon's being.  The only downside is it may be a little bigger than I would want for pack hunting.  Just a tip, if you do decide to buy one, don't waste your money on the topo option.  The Trax maps can be purchased with topo and you can turn it on and off as topo can clutter up a screen at times.

"When we step into the outdoors, we have the privilege of standing in the presence of God through the power and majesty of His creation. That makes hunting more than a sport or a hobby. It's a calling to something greater. And that transforms the places that we stand into something more than a cropfield or a pasture or a mountain. It makes that place Hallowed Ground."
