Im going to order some glow paint for making my own jigs. Curious what colors you have found to work the best. I havent used glow jigs a lot in the past, but some people swear by them. Options are white, red, orange, green, blue or yellow....

I am not sold on the fact that GLOW paint actually is any better than regular, but I will try and use anything that might work a little better. I ordered UV Blast sealcoat for my hooks and jigs this year. Supposedly this is suppose to be the new best thing, better then GLOW. I have yet to try it to report any results.

I don't know if any particular color is better at actually attracting fish or causing them to bite. The whole point of the glow is to provide the fish some help in identifying your bait, so whichever color glows the brightest and stays glowing the longest might be the ticket.

With that being said I have found myself partial to some of my tackle that glows red.

In your search for glow paint Ly you'll want to keep in mind the amount of time each paint/color actually glows.  The time for different colors glowing varies a lot.  I believe green glows the longest and as you get to some of the other colors, they actually don't glow very long.  The quality of the paint also matters a great deal.  When looking for your glow paints in other colors, try to use paints that will actually give you info in that regards.

When I use colors side by side (glow or regular paint) red seems to always outperform the others with bright orange coming in 2nd.

Also, read some about UV paints, anyone ever tried these? Supposedly fish can see UV and UV penetrates water much farther than visible light....

I buy/use pretty much every color I can.  Orange is my favorite and I'm getting into multi color painting.  I don't know if it's better than a solid color, but it's something to do. I made firetiger and some glow purple with gold glitter over it like the Salmo Viking.  I've done some others crankbait schemes to.  Here is a great thread on walleye central about jig making http://www.walleyecentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=188348&highlight=jig+making.
Have fun, it's addictive.

From what I have read, powder paint is a slick deal. What kind of paint do you use? If you use powder paint, have you used a fluid bed? Theres a video on youtube that demonstrates how the fluid bed works. They are expensive, but looks like something you could make at home with some PVC and an aquarium pump...

I use powder paint.  I don't use a fluid bed.  I cap the container and shake up the paint every 12 or jigs.  Also, if the container is full, the jigs can easily get too much paint on them.  Pour 1/4 or 1/2 of the powder into a dixie cup and paint the jigs in the jar.  After a while you won't need the dixie cup.  Cooking the jigs in the oven for 20 or 30 minutes does a good job at finishing the paint and making it hard.  It's amazing how much less they chip when you do that.

Do thousands of jigs and when I am running alot of the same color, I do use my fluid bed. Thought like you I could make one cheaper however the bottom of the cup where the powder goes is a very weird material. Pores enough where the powder does not go through but still lets air through. As I said weird stuff. The number one benifit of the bed is you almost can not over paint them, excellent to use with the "candy" colors that are available as if you over paint those, the silver or chrome jig head doesnt come through the candy paint. One draw back though is it only holds one color and you have to clean, with a dry cloth only, everytime you want to change colors. As I said if I am running 50 or more of the same color, it is really worth seting up.

On some website I found a picture taken in 20ft of water with a UV camera and its very clear that the UV jig is reflecting light that the others arent. Would be interesting to try at least, might help a lot in discolored/murky conditions. There is no UV light at night tho, so it wouldnt help as much for early dawn/dusk applications or fishing in the dark.
