Best perch bite on Devils lake?

I was wondering when everyone considers the best time of year for perch fishing through the ice on Devils Lake. I always like to get on the ice as late as possible in the year, but it seems like the perch bite is actually better in mid March. From what I have found it seems like that last 2-3 weeks before spawn, the perch bite seems to slow down. I know the Perch will start to leave their winter areas and move to shallower water to spawn, but they just don't seem to be as active. Anyone else find this true, or do they seem to bite just as good right until the ice is gone if you can get to them?

Based on the number of trucks on the lake at any given time, the perch bite must be the best on the weekends.

This moment is a paradox, it's the oldest you've ever been as well as the youngest you'll ever be.

I thought the best bite was anytime that I'm not there.

It's always awesome, you guys just are never in the right spot at the right time!!!! LOL J/K

I know of a group this last weekend that pounded the perch, big ones, and lots of them so if you were to ask them, probably right now is a good time.

No PM's please, it's not my spot, I didn't find it, it aint mine to give out.

East DL is producing some pretty good fishing.  Mostly in 50+ feet of water, so make sure you have lots of line on your spool!

The "you should have been here (there) yesterday" line is old.  One day I'd like to be the guy telling other people that line.  Until then punching holes and trying spots.

We were on east devils on Sat. Just looks for the massive group of people on the NE corner. They are probably catching them there or they are all just catching a buzz!!! But watch out because I heard a truck went through in that area last week.

Agreed.  They were all eaten by cormorants and people from Wisconsin.  Move along, nothing to see here.

Yea yea,
I know how some of the locals don't like all us out of staters coming and catching "their" fish. But thanks to the guys nice enough for some real input.
Any of you guys want to come out to WI and do some fishing let me know and I would be willing to help with any info I can.
I am looking to move to the Devils Lake region next fall, so then I will be one of the pissed of locals at all the guys coming from all over and fishing "my lake" too.
