Yup, the 4 legged ones.  Anyways, is beaver trapping season still in?  If so I'm looking for a trapper around Larimore.  Seems like I have a couple wanting my trees, and I'm not willing to share.   They have a damn on the river going through my property, I want them gone.  Nothing against beavers, I just don't want my trees tore up anymore than they have already done.

Not to give a bad vibe...well maybe sort of....I have been waiting a long time for the state to come out and trap some of these pesky animals for over 2 years now!

I don't have enough trees to last 2 years...... LOL.  I figured I would give a local trapper a chance for a pelt or 2 before I go out and protect my property with a big-boom.  Then the pelts do no one any good.

You may be better off wrapping your trees in mesh, fencing, or those plastic guards.

Contact Rick and Chris Tischaefer of Butte, ND @ 701-626-7150.  He is the director of the NDFHTA and should be able to put you into contact with a trapper from that area.  Or Ron Gore from Devils Lake, he is the Director for that area of the state.

Not sure though if you will find many trappers to come and get them for the fur, they are not worth much.

If you let the trapper (if you find one) trap other animals while after the beaver to make it worth thier while, you may have some luck.

Good Luck!

If its on a river, you'll just likely end up dealing with them year after year after year. They'll be a perennial problem as they disperse every spring.

Best to wrap the trees.

I do like me some beaver trapping, and id like to help ya but Larimore is just a bit far for me.

Where are you located tipup? I did a lot of beaver trapping when I lived in WI, but my beaver traps have not been wet in ND yet. I'd like to change that.

TMRfish....I am located in the northeastern part of NoDak. I was able to knock out most of their dams a few weeks ago using an excavator. It was border line too late for them to rebuild due to the weather turning cold.

Question for anyone....do muskrats builds dams similar to beavers?

Muskrats dont builds dams but are known to maintain them alongside the beavers, they have also been documented to live with beavers in the lodges. - just a little info in case you have seen rats around the dams and lodges
