Bear spray

Which do you think would be better medicine for a grizzilly bear

.41 Magnum 5 shot revolver

or

1911 .45 ACP

I say to hell with that pot o' gold.

A pump shotgun with the plug pulled...buckshot/slug/buckshot/slug/buckshot/slug, reliable AND effective.

where did you look it up?  My gut says the .41.

Pretty hard to pack a shotgun when you're bowhunting

Soooo many options,whats wrong with a .458?

Yeah I know its a Brown and larger than a grizzly but very effective~This was a quick draw while walking  thru his neighborhood,the bear charged within 30ft,4 shots fired,3 connected~Would'nt want to take a chance of a miss fire with or cycle issue with a semi in bear country

I guess for bowhunting purposes I would take any magnum revolver so the .45 acp would be out in my eyes, even though I love em.  When it comes to bears it's all about stopping power and reliability IMO...

Don't even mess with the .45 acp in bear country. Your just looking to torque him off if you use that. Guaranteed he'll kill you before you kill him with that gun.

Magnum would be the only way to go in bear country.

Thanks for the input.  Got some fairly hot hard-cast handloads for the .41, they ought to do the trick.

FYI, Bear Spray has been proven more effective in preventing attacks, just a thought.

I can see your point, but as with many other things, it's a personal preference, I agree with GG 
(I'd rather be packing than spraying)

Very true Josh, whatever calms the nerves. People used to ask me what I carried for a side arm in AK, when i told them "nothing, if i can't kill it with my rifle maybe it's my time."

Precautionary measures go a lot farther than the preventatives, make noise, keep a  clean camp and avoiding certian situations, however there are always the what if's and accidents. Thus, packing what makes that certain individual more at ease is up to that individual.

Funny, When I was south of Yellowstone on a guided elk hunt, the guides wanted you to carry bearspray, but not one of them did!!! They all carried big revolvers close to their vest pocket! We had the horses run of two nights when we were there. A little spooky! I bought a Ruger Alaskan in the .454 casull. I won't go back without it.

I will be carrying both bear spray and magnum bear spray.  Problem is bear spray only has a range of 30 ft.  Not sure if I want to wait until one gets that close.

A 22 cal would work great!  Just take a guy with you that you don't favor lots.  Bear charges, shoot other guy in leg.  Then, run 10 yards, slow to a walk, and plug ears.. hehehehe....

Uh... was I supposed to be serious?  ROFLMAO

He already said is biggest wish was a 4x4 chair you may want to reconsider when you see him pull up with  a bad ass chair sporting a 350 or something
