Good wiggly waxworms or maggots.  If that doesn't work, I'd go with some of those gulp bluegill baits.  The ones that mimic bugs.  If that doesn't work, throw in the towel and start drinking.

Not sure how trout act here but in Colorado where I'm from that's all we had. We used half of a baby nightcrawler on something like a Genz worm or a 1/8 oz kastmaster.

Corn or a little piece of gummy worms, yes the kind you eat! Always worked in MT for us.

Make doughballs out of cat/dog food.  Once you get the right consistency, make sure you don't completely bury the hook point.  Also, you could order some Uncle Josh salmon eggs over the 'net.  No WV trout fisherman is complete without a couple jars.

Yes, salmon eggs do work good at times.  Definitely worth a shot.

Salmon Eggs work ok, chunks of raw shrimp are excellent. Cooked also works but is to soft. A few good size raw shrimp and tear off chunks to put on a jig head. Squid tentacle also works awesome. Buy a few whole squid, smaller is better, then just cut off the tentacles and use them on a jig. Great action, scent, and they last a long time before replacement.

of corse the trout there were stocked, and they were no more than 13 inches long so they would likely go after them more than a bigger one.

We used those small shrimp you use in salads and they seems to work well.

Squid on a jig...Hmmm.  No reason not to try that for anything.  Excellent!

you are probably right ! I had never used them in anything but trout waters. I bet the panfish would hammer them if the bite is aggressive.
