I own a 3.5" semi.  I cant remember the model number.  I think it is a great value.  I picked this gun up from Cabelas for something close to $300.  Is it going to be as good and nice as a SBE or SX3? no it wont, but dont think there is a $1000 difference between them.  I have had cycle issues with mine, but I can say it is because I hunt with it all season and usually dont clean it until it gives me problems.  Once it is clean it works great.  I have friends who have had more issues with the more expensive semi shotguns.  Another benefit is I have great patterns using the factory Extra-Full choke with steel 2's and BB's.

I have a little 20 gauge O/U I use for upland game.  Always grab that shotgun when I want to kill ...oops...harvest stuff, and leave the more expernsive stuff in the gun cabinet.!    I've put a few thousand rounds through it, beat it to death, and it keeps on tickin.
Like most things Russian, it's rough and maybe not the prettiestt gun in the world, overengineered and a bit overbuilt.   Like Russian aircraft that are available nowadays.   Rough, tough, a bit ugly but bulletproof.  If it craps out on me tomorrow, no big deal considering the price.
I don't know anything about their automatics  though.

I have a Baikal semi along with a Beretta Extrema 2. I gave away a Goldhunter I was  tired of it's cycling issues.  I use the Baikal on upland hunting. I have shot around 2000 rounds through it. It's fine using 2 3/4 and 3s, but mine doesn't always cycle the 3.5s. Great gun for the price.

Depends on if you are looking for an O/U or a semi auto.  Everything bobkat said about the O/U is pretty much right on.  The Baikal MP 153 semi auto is a solid, solid gun.  Price is dirt cheap and I know several guys who love them.  Wouldn't hesitate a bit to buy one.  Good luck!

I own three and they are top notch, trouble free guns. Hundreds if not thousands of rounds though them and ZERO problems.

I bought a Remington SPR18 in .308 2 yrs ago.  It is made by Baikal and is a single shot break open rifle.  I have read complaints about their quality, but mine is great and the price was also.  Shot whitetail bucks the past two seasons, no problems.

IMO it's better to get a used shotgun of better quality for a little more than a lower end shotgun new. Browning, Beretta, Benelli or the like.

Have a couple of friends that train dogs and hunt alot; and they run thousands of shells through their Baikal O/U. They have had zero problems with them. Another friend has a auto that seems to work okay but weighs a ton.

I bought mine at Walmart . I liked it so much I bought 1 for my vet. He also had a Goldhunter semi that acted more like a single shot.
