I searched the archive and couldn't locate anything on this so...

What would you guys reccomend for a chain style.  I do some plowing and of course crossing snow filled frozen lakes.  I was thinking the diamond pattern would be good but have never used chains on a quad.  2 link twisted maybe better?

Thanks gentlemen.
Yeah, it's kind of like that.

Just a completely different idea would be to get a couple of tires that have the ice studs that you screw into them or maybe your tires would work also. They sell the tires and studs (or just bags of studs) at full throttle in Bismarck. The only reason that I am suggesting that way is because if you run chains and they come loose (which can happen pretty easily if you spin the tires while pushing snow) then they will more than likely whip around the tire and shred the fender. That would be very a costly lesson. Just my opinion though

Good topic.

I use the moose V-bar chains. They work pretty good. Push snow all winter long with my atv and they work well for ice fishing too. usually put em on first snow and leave em on till the snows gone. Had em 2 seasons so far and they work like a charm and have held up well. They run about $45 for a set (2 tires).

and set of chains will work wonders, but the V-bar are the best.  Use lots of bungee cords to keep em tight.  If you get stuck with chains on, you've done something special.

I say to hell with that pot o' gold.

Would calcium chloride or antifreeze in the tires help with traction?
