ATTN: PIKE/DRAYTON DAM FISHERMAN!

Captain Ahab Joined: 12/01/2008 Location: ND	FYI. I just got back from Drayton Dam open water fishing(the dam area is open) and the pike are biting very good in the slack water. I am sick of losing tackle when I go up there, so take advantage of the warm weather the next few days and nab pike from 1.5 to 10 pounds. I caught one about every 3 casts with a jig and a white twister/paddle tail. Fish the shallow, slack area south of the boat ramp. I am sure they would bite well on many other presentations. You are welcome if you like pike. AGAIN, THE WATER IS OPEN, SO BRING YOUR LONG RODS. P.S. Please return lost tacke in pike's mouth to me.(kidding) P.S.2. Please let me know if you catch something other than pike.(Serious) P.S.3. I was the only one there with a 44 degree day today. P.S.4. I will post some pics soon.

Allen Joined: 01/09/2002 Location: ND	Glad to see someone else got out today. Me and a coworker dunked the boat in the Missouri today. Only caught 4 eyes, 12 pike, and a gar. First time anyoe has caught a gar in my boat. Great day to be on SOFT water!

I haven't seen that there is any state record for those and I was kicking myself for not getting at least one of them weighed. Nothing over 2 1/2lbs though.

I snagged that nasty dead eel pout, but you topped it with the story about snagging the dead yote! Might have to take a run north thanks for the info / Scott

I was pulling something in yesterday that I was scared to see. I am kinda glad it ended up snagging into something on the way in and my line broke.

on2stix Joined: 01/08/2012 Location: ND	Thanks for the tip!!! Threw shallow running cranks from about 12:30 to 4pm today (Sunday Jan 8). Caught about 20 pike 20" to 30" and also caught a 24" Walleye!! Great day of fishing open water in January! love it

The other thing you have to watch is getting too close to the dam, I regularly see people fishing in the closed area. I live in Drayton, might have to take a trip down there.
