The Heart of Lake Sakakawea

New Town, ND – Rightly named the Heart of Lake Sakakawea New Town is home to some of the best hunting and fishing North Dakota has to offer. The Van Hook Arm known as the “fish factory” of Lake Sakakawea is just minutes away, the upper tier of Sakakawea often described as White Earth and Tobacco Gardens is just a few miles to the north. To the west and south you have the popular destinations of Reunion, Skunk, Pouch and Deepwater Bays. Again, just minutes from New Town.

The hunting season is coming to close but last minute pheasant and bow hunters will enjoy success through miles of prime habitat consisting of Lake Sakakawea’s shorelines. Outside the borders of pheasant heaven rests miles and miles of frozen water…a walleye and pike fisherman’s dream.

Ice conditions are improving by the second as cold weather works its ice angling magic. Fishing is expected to be good for those venturing out onto the hardwater. Of course, with prime destinations listed above, how can one not expect to have a good year on the ice?
