Van Hook is known as the Fish Factory of Lake Sakakawea for proven reasons. It is one of the best bite on Lake Sakakawea PERIOD and fishing this spring hasn’t disappointed.

White Earth and Tobacco Gardens are just a few miles to the north. To the west and south you have the popular destination of Reunion, Skunk, Pouch and Deepwater Bays. There’s hiking trails and walking paths across the Four Bears Bridge, shopping, dining, gaming at 4 Bears Casino, Frisbee Golf, swimming areas, and if want to take a short drive you can view the beautiful scenery of the Killdeer Mountains and Medora. Not going to lie, if you plan on staying in New Town you will want to book your trip fast!

Winter is a dirty word after last year’s events but a big draw to the New Town area is ice fishing. For the sake of tickets selling fast, it warrants discussing the 4th Annual Bite the Ice on “The Hook” ice fishing tournament and raffle. The previous three years tickets sold out fast and this year will not be any different.
