Special Season to Open

Grafton, N.D. (AP) A special deer gun hunting season opens at noon Friday in northeastern North Dakota.

The seven-day season in the two most northeasterly hunting units in the state is aimed at reducing bloated deer numbers, and also guarding against spread of bovine tuberculosis from northwestern Minnesota.

State Game and Fish Department wildlife chief Randy Kreil says the key to making the season successful is to have property owners willing to allow hunters on their land to shoot does.

Bucks are off limits during the special season.
