Jason Mitchell Outdoors Teaming With School of Outdoor Sports

Jason Mitchell Outdoors Television in conjunction with the School of Outdoor Sports recently held an essay contest in an effort to introduce more young people to the outdoors through fishing, shooting and hunting. One of the essay winners, Garrett Stout (ten years old) from Pierre, South Dakota was one of the winners. Jason Mitchell Outdoor's film crew recently traveled to Pierre and took Garrett out fishing for the afternoon and actually filmed a show, teaming up with local angler and guide, Bruce Crist. Garrett caught over twenty five walleyes in a couple of hours of fishing on nearby Lake Sharpe. According to Jason Mitchell, Lake Sharpe is one of the hottest walleye bites in the country right now and while the region might have earlier suffered from the affects of this season's high water, the fishing is the best it has been since the early eighties on these Missouri River reservoirs of Lake Sharpe and Lake Francis Case.

On Lake Sharpe, the anglers caught several nice walleyes trolling Salmo Hornets with lead core line along current breaks. After several walleyes were caught, the anglers targeted salmon closer to the dam where Garrett landed a trophy king salmon. "This is a great place for a kid to grow up with a love for the outdoors with great fishing for walleye, smallmouth bass, pike, salmon and of course the pheasants and waterfowl not to mention big game. This area of the Country is paradise for people who love to hunt and fish," added Mitchell.

Mitchell took over the television production of the late Tony Dean over four years ago. Upcoming segments will air in North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Nebraska, Iowa, Wisconsin, Kansas, Missouri, Indiana and Illinois. Jason Mitchell Outdoors has been one of the highest rated fishing shows on Fox Sports North and reaches over twelve million households. The show currently airs on Fox Sports North and Fox Sports Midwest on Sunday mornings at 9:00 am. The show recently filmed will air this upcoming winter and spring of 2012.
