Hunting, Fishing and Recreation on Lake Sakakawea

The Indian Hills Resort 2010 summer season is once again bringing new developments to make your stay even more memorable than before. Located just west of Garrison, ND on the renown fishery of Lake Sakakawea, Indian Hills has surpassed expectations of loyal customers for years.

This year owners Dale and Kelly Sorge are optimistic about the walleye fishing conditions and anglers can also expect the same. Last year, high water levels made the fishing a bit in-consistent than previous year. A large part of that was due to high water levels that covered miles of flooded fishing habitat which spread the fish out a bit. This year, near full-capacity water conditions continue to hold and fishing conditions will certainly improve over the next few years with excellent spawning conditions and bait fish reproduction reported in 2009. One can bet that the “Good Old Days” of harvesting huge Lake Sakakawea walleyes is just around the corner.

The nice thing about staying at Indian Hills Resort is you can look forward to so much more than just fishing. Family fun can be had by all by visiting the Lewis and Clark trail site, walk along endless beaches, hunt, go birding, or just relax to the sounds of nature. You will find everything for your fishing and leisure activities at Indian Hills Resort and Campground including a variety of camping and lodging services from rustic camping cabins, tent and RV campsites, seasonal campsites to fully modern lodging in a cabin for the whole family.

What can customers look forward to this year?

• Gas on water
• Near full-capacity water levels
• Dock slips for boat size up to 32 foot for larger boats
• Kayak Rentals (New this year!)
• Wireless Internet available in the retail store (New this year!)
• New shower house (New this year!)
• 4 of 12 park model sites remain

Quietly hidden in Goodbear Bay, Indian Hills is 15 miles from additional major boat ramps located on the north side of Lake Sakakawea.
