Devils Lake Chamber Walleye Tournament

The Devils Lake Chamber of Commerce Walleye Fishing Tournament is scheduled once again for June 2011. This year marks the 35th annual tournament and you will see some changes this year. The tournament is moving to a Friday and Saturday tournament, with the option to fish on Sunday due to inclement weather. This will provide a better chance to hold a two-day fishing tournament and provide a better experience.

The tournament will run at the same time as the Master Walleye Circuit this year and both tournaments will launch out of Graham’s Island State Park, with the weigh-in held on-site. There will be a steak fry on Saturday night, immediately following the awards banquet, or weigh-in. Teams have the option of participating in both tournaments if you wish. The total payout for this year’s Chamber tournament is $30,150*. Contingency prizes from local Chamber sponsors include plaques for the top 10 teams and prizes for teams catching the largest Northern, Walleye, White Bass and Perch each day. The tournament director will again be Johnnie Candle. In an interview he stated, “I am looking forward to the Devils Lake Chamber tournament this year. We listened to the anglers and made some great changes. Moving to Friday and
Saturday gives us a much better chance at fishing for two days and moving the meal to Saturday evening and holding an awards banquet will bring a lot of the fun back to the event as well. The fishing will be incredible as always – what more could you ask for?”

The tournament is limited to 150 entries, with five early bird prizes given away (free registration) to anyone who registers by March 31, 2011.
