Despite High Winds and Blizzard Worries Missouri River Team Challenge Event a Success!

Well it was an adventure of a weekend. We decided to move the tournament to Sunday to avoid the impending blizzard. As I stayed up through Saturday evening watching the weather I saw that the blizzard warning had actually been extended to 7AM Sunday morning! Well, the call was made around 11PM Saturday night to move the tournament start time to 10AM to make sure guys weren’t traveling during the blizzard warning.
Even with the day change, the time change, and the weather we still had 20 teams come out and brave the day. The ramp was perfect. Thanks to Glen with Morton County for staying in touch with us and working with us that morning. There was very little snow and no ice at the ramp. Just a lot of wind!
The day progressed well and we only had one boater get stuck on some sand. Thanks to Team Pope and Team Hinz for being willing to go and help out that boat!
Congratulations to the following teams:
1st place ($2,500): Team 9 (25.6lbs) (Clay Koenig, Doug Hermanson, and Mike Martin)
2nd place ($500): Team 19 (25.4lbs) (David Moos, Tyler Moos, and Troy Toftland)
3rd place ($400): Team 7 (23.6lbs) (Travis Sukaukas and Aaron Wentz)
4th place ($300): Team 15 (22.6lbs) (Chad Renner, Jeff Enzminger, and Jason Binstock)
5th place ($200): Team 10 (20.2lbs) (Garth Blumhardt, Ed Bullinger, and Monte Unterseher)
Teams could keep NDGF limits and only weigh 5 fish. Click here for full results.
Largest walleye (7.2lbs) caught by Team 5 (Zach Nelson, Ryan Roth, and Jordan Schatz). There was a tie with this so tie was settled by first fish registered.
Also, thank you to all of our sponsors that are helping to make this year’s events great. Reminder that our 2011 ND Fishing Challenge on Devils Lake is coming up on July 16th!
